All three were dumbfounded. Gu Qichen—a face known throughout Kyoto—stood before them. The dream lover of every woman in Kyoto, the man every socialite coveted, and the ultimate goal of every superstar model, was there. His face, a fixture in elite finance magazines and a frequent topic in entertainment headlines, was instantly recognizable to Gong Xue’er, also in the news industry.

Gu Qichen approached calmly, standing beside Xia Yangyang. His voice, low and magnetic, asked, "Who are they?"

Xia Yangyang, surprised by his sudden appearance, stammered, "Total strangers."

A rare softness graced Gu Qichen's face as he took her hand. "I brought you gifts from Japan. Go see if you like them." He seemed to ignore Lu Haotian and Gong Xue’er entirely.

Lu Haotian sensed the shift in atmosphere, but Gu Qichen had already put his arm around Xia Yangyang, ready to leave. Lu Haotian stopped them, grabbing Xia Yangyang's arm. He demanded, "Yangyang, what's your relationship with him?"

Xia Yangyang paused. Gu Qichen turned. All eyes, including Gong Xue’er’s, fell on Xia Yangyang. Gu Qichen waited for her answer.

Xia Yangyang took a deep breath and declared, "He's my boyfriend."

Both Gu Qichen and Lu Haotian frowned. Lu Haotian looked disbelieving. "Yangyang, how could you do this to me?"

Seeing Lu Haotian's hurt expression and Gong Xue’er's disbelief, Xia Yangyang felt a surge of satisfaction. Gu Qichen's timely arrival had saved her dignity.

No longer wanting to deal with Lu Haotian, she took Gu Qichen's arm. "Let's go to Yan Garden Fish Restaurant for boiled fish tonight. We haven't had it in a while!"

Gu Qichen affectionately tapped her nose. "As you wish, my little foodie."

Lu Haotian's face turned green. He yelled at Gu Qichen at the door, "Do you want to know my relationship with Xia Yangyang? I was her first love!"

Lu Haotian, even while dating Gong Xue’er, had remained confident in his relationship with Xia Yangyang, his childhood sweetheart. But Gu Qichen's arrival presented an overwhelming threat.

Gu Qichen turned, saying softly, "I was her first man." Then he left with Xia Yangyang.

Many in the secretarial division witnessed the scene. They had already imagined a dramatic confrontation between Xia Yangyang and the two visitors. The unexpected arrival of the big boss, however, made the situation unpredictable. He already disliked Xia Yangyang, and now she was conducting personal business in the company conference room during working hours.

Upon his return, everyone discussed the unfolding drama. Lu Xiaoman, known for her gossiping, revealed that the handsome man was Yangyang’s ex-boyfriend. The boss overheard and immediately went to the conference room.

Everyone sympathized with Xia Yangyang, knowing the boss’s dislike for her. They expected the worst. Sure enough, Xia Yangyang emerged from the conference room with the big boss and followed him, head bowed, into his office.
