Looking at the watch lying on the ground, Sylvia's mind raced. No matter how hard she thought, she couldn't understand how Trevor could afford such an expensive brand; it was as costly as Hermès perfume. Furrowing her brow, she asked, "Trevor, how did you get this watch? Where did you get it?"
Seeing the watch, Sylvia regretted her earlier words. Had she seen it sooner, she wouldn't have acted that way.
Trevor responded calmly, "It's none of your business. I'm too poor to deserve you anyway." He had clearly given up on her.
Ignoring Sylvia, Trevor picked up the watch and brushed off the dust. His silence frustrated her. She then abruptly said, "Do you want to come and join us?"
From the other end of the phone, Jaycee replied, "Sure. We'll take a taxi and meet you there." Corrie added, "No need. My cousin and I will pick you up downstairs. See you soon."
After hanging up, Sylvia got into the car with Bessie. The commercial street was close to their dormitory; the drive took only about ten minutes. Jaycee and two other girls were waiting in front of the dormitory.
Once Jaycee opened the car door, the backseat was overflowing with birthday gifts. Getting in took some time. Suddenly, Jaycee's eyes widened. On top of the gifts sat a familiar Hermès box.
It was Trevor's gift—a box of Hermès Supreme perfume!
