Chapter 139
"This is entirely the Langley family's fault. We underestimated you. We were prideful and blind," Margot said solemnly. "Please forgive us, My Liege." She could only admit her mistakes.
The King of Hades could, with a word, wipe the Langley family from existence.
Dustin didn't respond.
"Fine. Invite Simone and her family immediately. You know what to do," he said coldly.
"Yes, My Liege! I won't let you down," Margot replied quickly.
She sent someone to fetch Simone and her family. They soon arrived in the living room, looking stunned. The Panther Gang had vanished; the room was spotless, as if nothing had happened.
"What happened to you?" Simone asked, noticing the Langley family's strange behavior. "Uncle Derek, why are you trembling?"
"I—I'm just a little…cold," Derek stammered, wiping sweat from his forehead.
Simone was confused. It was the height of summer, and the air conditioning wasn't even on.
"Mother, is there something you need?" David asked politely, tilting his head.
"Ah, David. I've made a decision," Margot said solemnly. "I'm passing the headship of the family to you!"
"What?!" Simone and her family were incredulous. This was unlike Margot, who had held power for years. Was this a test? They were unsure how to react.
"Mother, I don't think I'm qualified," David said, secretly wanting the position but fearing to accept it.
"You're the only one who can do it! Only you can be head of the family! If you don't, the Langley family will face too many threats!" Margot said agitatedly, shocking Simone's family. Margot's composure had always been unwavering.
Chapter 139 (Continued)
"Mother, did something happen?" David asked.
"Don't worry! Everything will be fine once you become head of the Langley family. If you don't, we're all in trouble! The fate of the Langley family rests on your shoulders! You'll be the most important person, everyone will obey you, even me! You'll be the true master!"
Margot's plea only deepened Simone's family's suspicions. David grew even more apprehensive.
"Do you really want the whole family to beg you?" Margot anxiously lifted her skirt hem, preparing to kneel.
This shocked Simone's family, who rushed to prevent her.
"David, just agree!"
"You're the best candidate! You deserve the role!"
The other Langleys urged David. Simone found their behavior highly unusual. Why the sudden, drastic change?
"Alright, then. I'll accept," David finally agreed.
The Langleys breathed a collective sigh of relief. Had he refused, they would have begged him. From a shadowy corner, Dustin silently observed, leaving after David's acceptance. Simone's family was safe, for now. He would begin his quest for vengeance.
