Chapter 123

Devon didn't understand his family's apprehension regarding the Mortimers, but he lacked the courage to defy them.

"It seems I'll have to visit the Aquila family myself and inquire about my supposed subordination," Duke Mortimer said coldly.

Devon's face paled. If the Duke went to the Aquilas, Devon would be severely punished. The Langley family wore expressions of shock. The truth was out: Devon had lied, taking credit for something he hadn't done. This led to speculation—who had secured the Duke's cooperation with David's family? Margot and the others looked at Dustin. Could it be him? But Dustin was supposedly a Wyatt family reject. If he possessed such influence, why would he have been expelled?

After hanging up, the Duke's apparent intention to visit the Aquilas silenced everyone. An awkward tension filled the room.

"It seems you weren't the one who secured Mr. Mortimer's assistance for Simone's family, Mr. Devon," Dustin said mockingly.

Devon, his face drawn and eyes burning with rage, remained silent. He didn't know how Dustin knew the Duke, but this did nothing to alleviate his anger and humiliation.

"So, Dustin helped us!" David exclaimed warmly. Had Devon been truly responsible, he would have found it difficult to make a decision.

Devon, his face still grim, attempted to leave, having already suffered enough embarrassment.

"Did I say you could leave?" Dustin asked coldly.

"What do you want?" Devon sneered, turning around. "Do you think your social standing has improved simply because you somehow know Duke Mortimer? Do you think you're above me now? Even if you know him, you're still a Wyatt reject. You can't touch me. The fight for Simone's hand in marriage isn't over. Just you wait!"

He turned to leave, but encountered the Hell Guard.

"Dustin, what are you doing?! Try to hurt me, I dare you!" Devon challenged, fearless in his belief that his Aquila connections and social standing would protect him.

Dustin remained silent, but the Hell Guard understood. He effortlessly lifted Devon.

Chapter 123 (Continued)

The pain was excruciating, causing Devon to cry out.

"Dustin Fox, do you want to die?! Tell him to let me go!" he yelled.

"Dustin, don't do anything foolish! The Aquilas will hold you accountable; you won't survive the consequences!" the Langley family members shouted. Dustin scoffed.

"I'll say this once," he said icily. "Simone alone decides whom she marries. I won't forgive anyone who forces her into a marriage against her will." The lethal edge in his voice shocked everyone.

"Who do you think you are, Devon? You're unworthy to even consider marrying Simone," Dustin said coldly. "Consider this a warning. If you harass her again, you won't leave Rivenesco alive!"

Dustin dismissively flicked his hand. The Hell Guard twisted Devon's arm. Devon screamed in agony and shock. The cleanly broken bone was beyond repair.

The Langley family was stunned. Dustin's ruthlessness and arrogance were shocking. Were they not afraid of the Aquilas? Did he have a death wish?

"Throw him out," Dustin said coldly.

The Hell Guard, nodding, carried Devon outside and flung him at the gate, leaving him there.

Back inside, Dustin looked at the Langley family, but none met his gaze. He wanted to know if any of them would dare to force Simone into an unwanted marriage.
