Chapter 140

The Aquila family was one of the most powerful families in Lannopolis. Brennan Aquila, the patriarch, sat frowning in his usual seat.

"Is there no news?" he asked his servant.

"Sir, we've searched all of Rivenesco, but we couldn't find Devon. We also checked with the Panther Gang and the Langley family's villa in Rivenesco, but found nothing," the servant replied. Brennan looked even more troubled.

His second son, Devon, had gone to Rivenesco a few days earlier with some Panther Gang members. He'd sought revenge, then vanished.

"Investigate further! Use drastic measures if necessary!" he shouted.

"There's no need," a woman's voice said from the doorway.

A beautiful, elegant young woman entered the living room.

"Who are you?" Brennan asked.

"Bianca Winter, of the Seven Clans of Central Harbor," she replied dispassionately.

"The Winter family!" The head of the Aquila family was stunned. The Seven Clans were seven families with over a century of history, possessing unshakeable foundations and unimaginable wealth and power; their influence was exceptional. Even a prominent Lannopolis family had to respect them.

"Miss Winter, what brings you here?" Brennan asked politely.

"Devon Aquila is dead," Bianca said.

"What?" He was taken aback.

"Three days ago, someone named Dustin Fox beheaded him at the Langley family villa. His body was desecrated!" Bianca chuckled.

The head of the Aquila family rose, his face contorted with rage.

"Who is Dustin Fox?!"

"Someone the Wyatt family expelled long ago. A nobody," Bianca said.

Brennan slammed his hand on his chair, shattering it. His fury was palpable.

"Where is he?!" he demanded viciously.

"He's in Lannopolis."

"Search the city! Bring Dustin Fox to me!" Brennan yelled.

"Dustin was expelled from the Wyatt family. He was trained by Lucas Wyatt, so he's skilled," Bianca warned. "The Wyatt daughters are my cousins. Dustin is a traitor, an ungrateful wretch! The Wyatt family wants justice, so I'm here to help"

The head of the Aquila family nodded respectfully.

"I offer my services, Miss Winter."

Satisfied, Bianca grinned. "Sometimes, extreme measures are necessary to teach a lesson!"

While the Aquila family hunted Dustin, he sat quietly in a Lannopolis jazz club, sipping cheap beer. A saxophone player performed onstage. Not far away, a young, beautiful woman sat alone at a table, surrounded by empty alcohol bottles. She drank haphazardly, growing increasingly intoxicated. Several men watched her, waiting for an opportunity. Irene West continued to drink, trying to numb her sorrow. She ignored the men; they were all the same to her.

As she became more inebriated, a group of people entered the club. The leader, a young man who looked like a wealthy heir, approached Irene directly.
