Chapter 27

She was dropped from all her projects. How was that possible?

"Just this morning, the news arrived. The investors of the other scripts you accepted simultaneously sent letters cancelling and terminating the contracts. It was as if they'd reached a unanimous agreement…" Bella's face darkened.

"They terminated the contracts at the same time?" She didn't understand why. Weren't these the same people who had begged her to work on their films? What was wrong with them? Had they forgotten how desperate they'd been?

"Where's my manager? Where is she?! Why am I only hearing about this now?" Bella was furious.

"The manager left, leaving only a resignation letter…" The assistant handed her the letter.

Bella's eyes widened in disbelief. Her manager was a top agent in the industry. When Bella was just an extra, this manager had approached her, claiming to see potential and wanting to work with her. For years, her manager had arranged everything, making her famous. But she'd just left without a word?

"Why did she resign?" Bella asked grimly.

"She didn't say, but her face changed after a phone call. I heard her say, 'She reaps what she sows,' then she left," said the assistant. Bella's face froze.

"She reaps what she sows…" Bella muttered, frowning. Had she done something wrong? She tried to recall everything, but couldn't understand what she'd done.

"Hmph! So what if I'm cancelled? Who cares if my manager quits? They're all idiots! I don't care!" Bella said coldly. Her voice, full of contempt and anger, belied her claim of indifference. After becoming famous, she'd looked down on everyone. Their flattery had only stoked her ego, fueling her haughtiness and arrogance.

This setback enraged her; she cursed everyone for failing to see her value.

"You! Tell everyone my schedule is open," she told her assistant, who obeyed. Bella angrily sat on the couch and pulled out her phone. She was confident famous directors and investors would contact her immediately. She imagined the small-time directors she'd rejected, groveling at her feet now that she was available. Wouldn't they leap at the chance? "I, Bella Wyatt, am a popular actress, a box-office guarantee! Finding a role won't be a problem," she smirked, already envisioning herself starring in the next big hit, making her manager and everyone else regret dropping her.

Ten minutes passed, then half an hour, an hour… two hours. Her phone remained silent except for a useless system notification. Her face darkened further. She immediately called her assistant.

"It's been hours. Anyone contact you?" she demanded.

"Bella, I've been watching carefully. I'll tell you immediately if anyone contacts me," the assistant replied anxiously.

Bella was furious. "Within three days, a big-time director or investor will come to me with a script and beg me to work with them!" she declared confidently.
