Chapter 65
Clara awoke backstage in the art exhibition hall.
"Miss Clara, you're awake!" Michael rushed to her side, concern etched on his face.
"Mr. Carson" Clara's senses returned, but her expression darkened. The humiliation of the art auction still stung. "Mr. Carson, why are you still here?" Her voice was cold, her demeanor distant.
Michael, who always claimed to be her fan, had ignored her desperate pleas for help during the auction. "Miss Clara, please don't misunderstand. I didn't want to leave you unsupported, but I couldn't afford it!" He sighed helplessly.
Clara scoffed. "You, the heir to a prestigious Central Harbor family, couldn't afford it?"
Michael sighed again, unable to explain. He showed her the text messages he'd received.
Clara's eyes widened in shock. The texts revealed a threat from his father, the head of the Carson family, to disown him. A second text further stunned her: her father claimed she had provoked an incredibly dangerous individual. Who? Who held such power that even Central Harbor's elite families trembled before them?
Unease washed over Clara. If the powerful Carsons feared this person, the Wyatt family from Rivenesco stood no chance. Despite racking her brain, she couldn't identify her unseen enemy.
Then, a thought struck her. "Could it be?" One person came to mind. If the Wyatt family had offended such a figure, it could only be
"The Medical Sage," Clara said solemnly.
Bonus:
To treat Elijah, Amara, and Delia had once leveraged the Medical Sage's name to attract physicians. However, the Medical Sage himself appeared, exposing their deception and vowing to hold them accountable. "If it's the Medical Sage, then everything makes sense," Clara said, her face tight with tension. He was the only physician of his caliber globally, commanding immense power and influence. A single word from him could mobilize countless individuals.
Clara's face paled as she considered the implications. "The situation is critical. It seems the Wyatt family must reveal its true strength" she muttered.
"Miss Clara, don't worry. I'll handle Dustin for you!" Michael declared, mistaking her grim expression for resentment towards Dustin. "Dustin is despicable! I'll get revenge!" he vowed fiercely. "Just wait and see! I'm going to him now to settle this!"
Clara smiled softly. "I'll wait for good news." She didn't consider Dustin a significant threat; she simply hadn't anticipated the disastrous failure of her attempt to have him expelled by influential figures. For the Wyatt family, Dustin was a persistent problem requiring swift resolution. With Michael's powerful connections, dealing with Dustin should be a simple task.
"Miss Clara, I'll go now!" Michael left, brimming with confidence.
Clara watched him go, a gleam of anticipation in her eyes. "Let's hope there won't be any more surprises this time."
