Chapter 67
"Dad?" Michael's eyes widened in disbelief. He was certain it was the voice of his father, George Carson, head of the Carson family. But why was he here?
Following the sound, Michael turned and saw a stern middle-aged man glaring at him angrily. He rubbed his eyes, still disbelieving. George was supposed to be in Central Harbor. "Dad, why are you here?" Michael asked, fear replacing his arrogance. He was the Carson heir, but he feared only George. George's grim expression always terrified him. At that moment, George's furious demeanor petrified Michael; he'd never seen him so frightening.
"I said, get on your knees and apologize!" George shouted.
Thud! Michael, not daring to disobey, fell to his knees.
"Not to me! To him!" George roared.
Michael followed George's gaze, his face stiffening. George was referring to Dustin, who was calmly drinking tea.
"Dad, is this a mistake? You want me to kneel to him?" Michael protested, annoyed. He had a feud with Dustin and sought revenge. How could George demand he apologize?
"But why?! I want an explanation!" Dustin shouted angrily.
"You're asking for an explanation?" George strode over and slapped Michael so hard he fell to the floor, coughing up blood. Michael was stunned. George had never struck him, no matter how angry he'd been.
"Dad, I won't apologize! Not unless you give me an answer! I won't do it even if you kill me today!" Michael roared stubbornly.
Those words were barely out of his mouth when George fell to his knees beside him.
"My Liege, for the sake of the Carson family, who have served the organization faithfully for years, please spare my son!" George cried humbly. Michael was stunned. George, the Carson patriarch, held immense power in Lovellia; he was treated like royalty. Yet, he was begging Dustin for mercy.
"Dad!" Michael sputtered, livid. "Why are you begging him to spare me?! He's not worthy!"
"Quiet, you bastard!" George snapped, ready to punish Michael further.
Whoosh! One of Dustin's fighters appeared before Michael, slapping him to the floor. He coughed up more blood. Michael's anger peaked as he glared at the figure in black.
"Thank you for teaching my son a lesson on my behalf, brother!" George thanked the fighter.
Michael was flabbergasted. The man was Dustin's subordinate, yet George addressed him as a brother. The man removed his mask, revealing his face.
"Uncle Thomas?!" Michael cried out. Thomas was an enigmatic figure in the Carson family; Michael had only heard rumors and seen pictures. He had idolized Thomas. Thomas was Dustin's subordinate!
Michael's face contorted in shock. He was speechless.
"Your uncle is the King of Hades's Secret Guard," George said quietly.
