Chapter 100: See Myrna Enter the Taylor Group

The day Abbey entered the police station, Cedric relayed the news to Calvin. Calvin didn't say much; he simply called the Melcester Police Department and uttered two words: "Strict punishment." The Melcester Police Department had immediately placed the individual in juvenile detention, awaiting the prosecutor's office to initiate legal proceedings, and had refused all requests for prison visits.

Although the Moreno family were Melcester locals, their financial situation was average. Abbey's father had passed away early, leaving only her mother, Debra Moreno. Upon hearing about her situation at school, he fainted and was taken to the hospital. When Debra woke up, her daughter had already been taken to the detention center.

She had no choice but to frantically seek help, contacting every relative and friend. The highest-ranking person she could reach was a local police station chief. They brought generous gifts and visited him, but as soon as he learned it was concerning a Melcester Central High School student's intentional injury, he dismissed them without a word. They also stated they couldn't assist with the matter.

Debra had no choice. After a day and night of exhausting all her connections, she remembered words her husband had spoken before his death. Biting his teeth, he had begged the Herring family for help. Although ordinary people, Abbey's father had once been a driver for Oliva's husband. When the old man was in danger, he'd even taken a bullet for him. They saved his life, but he died soon after due to complications. The Herring family had once said they owed him a life and he could seek their help in the future if needed. At the time, Debra had just lost her husband and had no desire to involve herself with them, so she had never contacted the Herrings. Something had happened to Abbey; she couldn't care about anything else anymore.

Chapter 150: See Myrna Enter the Taylor Group

Myrna hadn't been to school for the past few days and had some free time, so she went to check out the Taylor Group. The Taylor Group was located in the city center, where towering skyscrapers emitted a dazzling light under the sunshine, causing a painful glare. In the past couple of years, the Taylor Group seemed to treat Melcester as a second headquarters. Denise spent a fortune buying land and building corporate buildings in Melcester, puzzling many in Nemmington about what was so appealing about this small place that attracted Denise to invest at all costs.

The bus Myrna took happened to stop at the Taylor Group. She got off, phone in one hand and the other in her pocket, slowly walking into the Taylor Group building. The security guard seemed to recognize her, and Myrna had smooth passage.

Beneath the spacious and bright lobby of the company, Luther was also at the Taylor Group. He had been waiting for a while, and the secretary who usually received him hadn't come down yet. He frequently checked his wristwatch, his brows furrowed in impatience, clearly somewhat dissatisfied. In a vague glimpse, he caught sight of a slender figure entering the main gate from the corner of his eye. The figure was short, a girl wearing a hoodie. From behind, she looked a bit like Myrna.

How did Myrna get into the Taylor Group? He was just about to take a closer look, to make sure he wasn't mistaken. The person he had been waiting for nearly half an hour finally appeared.

"Mr. Stark." Stanley Parker had been with Denise for a long time, always by her side. He was widely known as Denise's right-hand man. He came down. Luther didn't dare provoke him. He immediately stood up, extending his hand politely, "Mr. Parker, long time no see." Stanley politely shook his hand and immediately released it. His face, always maintaining a smile, showed no emotion. He explained cheerfully, "A distinguished guest was coming, Ms. Taylor asked me to buy some fruit; Mr. Stark must have been waiting a while."
