Chapter 16: The Kid Is Related to Calvin

Abbey was on better terms with Stephanie. She elbowed Stephanie playfully, her eyes full of envy, and flattered her, “Stephie, how lucky you are. You even have Lawson as your boyfriend.” Lawson was the man of the moment at Melcester Central High School. He had been admitted to a prestigious university with a high score on the college entrance examination, and it was said he was also popular at Craydon University. He was handsome, tall, and came from a wealthy family. All the girls envied Stephanie's relationship with him.

Stephanie blushed and pushed Abbey shyly. “Abbey, stop your nonsense.”

At this time, another student with them said, “Stephie, will your sister be okay after she jumped from the bridge?”

Lawson, the pride of his family since childhood, had grown up on compliments. He didn't take Stephanie's friends' praise seriously, smiling modestly before asking in confusion, “Who jumped from the bridge?” Only then did he realize a crowd was cheering near the bridge, ignoring him.

Stephanie, annoyed by her classmate's interruption and less tactful than Abbey, grabbed Lawson's sleeve. “It’s my sister. She jumped from the bridge.”

“I wanted to save the drowning kid, but I’m not a good swimmer, and the doctor said I couldn’t catch a cold, so I was thinking of calling you. I didn’t expect Myrna to jump from the bridge,” she explained.

Lawson was stunned. “Did you say Myrna jumped from the bridge to save the kid?”

Stephanie nodded, as if unaware of anything. “I didn’t hear anyone say that she could swim.” The water was turbulent; if Myrna was swallowed by the waves, Stephanie wouldn't have to see her on campus again.

At the bank, Myrna dragged the unconscious kid ashore with all her might. She barely reached the shore, saw the kid faint with a livid face, and knew he had swallowed a lot of water. She propped herself up to administer first aid despite her own sorry state.

“The kid is saved!”

The crowd cheered and approached Myrna upon seeing her save the kid. Lawson watched from afar, tilting his head and asking in a low voice, “Should we go take a look?”

Stephanie didn’t want Lawson to meet Myrna, but she didn’t want to reveal her plan, so she reluctantly hummed and said kindly, “I don’t know how my sister is doing. Lawson, let’s go take a look. If I can help…”

Not far away, in the restricted area, a Phaeton sped by, crushing fallen leaves.

“Mr. Larson, your grandfather called to ask why Alfredo didn’t answer the video call.”

Alfredo was the apple of the Larson family’s eye. Calvin doted on him so much that, if not for Alfredo's treatment, Gaven wouldn't have let him leave the capital. However, Alfredo was lost when his caregivers weren't paying attention.

The temperature in the car was low. Calvin's face tensed. He hadn’t slept in three days, and his beautiful eyes were bloodshot. Even the bracelet he wore couldn’t hide his fury.

“Tell Grandpa that Alfredo is taking a nap and he’ll call him later.”

“Yes, sir.”

At this time, his earpiece received a call. Calvin put one hand on the steering wheel and answered with the other. “Hello. Have you located him?”

“I have.” Blake knew how important Alfredo was to the Larson family and didn’t know how to tell Calvin the truth. “Calvin, I’ll tell you the truth. Don’t be mad.”

Calvin’s eyes were bloodshot, and he said coldly, “Speak.”
