Chapter 242: How Did Myrna Get Chosen?

He originally saw the bag of Sparkling Gems and thought it contained a small bracelet or necklace from the Sparkling Gems brand. At most, it was just a little bigger than a carat. Who knew it contained the property deed inside!

Never mind the property ownership; it’s still Nemmington’s house! First ring road, three sets! What’s the concept of that? Those three houses combined are worth at least a six-figure sum.

What is the relationship between Myrna and the Taylor Group? Wouldn’t most people, even if they have a good relationship, not give gifts like this?

On the other side, Luther and Stephanie were still standing not far from Denise’s car, their feet glued to the ground as if nailed, unable to move for a while. Although they were far apart, they still saw Denise giving the ‘gift’ she was holding to Myrna. Myrna poured out three bright red notebooks from inside. It looked like a property deed, but they were far apart, so they only got a rough idea. Myrna put the things back into the bag again, and they couldn’t see clearly even if they wanted to.

Chapter 242: How Did Myrna Get Chosen?

“Dad, how could Denise know Myrna?” Stephanie’s throat felt like it was burning, making it difficult for her to speak. Just Denise, in front of so many people, even with reporters present, directly saying she was unsuitable to wear Sparkling Gems undoubtedly slapped her in the face, making her see stars and still feeling dizzy. Her once-proud Glory earrings became embarrassing. She took them off unwillingly; not taking them off would always remind people of Denise’s impolite words.

Stephanie had never been so embarrassed before. She was on the verge of pricking her fingertips as she spoke to Luther in a questioning tone, “Dad, did you forget to send Denise an invitation?”

Luther fared no better than she. Stephanie had just embarrassed herself, and as a father, he felt embarrassed too. Upon hearing her question, his face darkened slightly, and he said with a stern expression, “I gave it!”

“Why did Denise run to Myrna’s place?”

“You asked me, and I asked who?”

How did he know Denise would choose Myrna? He had seen Myrna once before coming out of the Taylor Group, but he didn’t expect their relationship to be so good—good enough for Denise to come for Myrna. He had specifically gone to the Taylor Group to deliver the invitation letter; isn’t this a slap in the face?

Luther was filled with anger and couldn’t help but say, “I told you before, Myrna might know Ms. Taylor. Both you and your mother said I was overthinking, that she couldn’t possibly know Ms. Taylor. Well, now what? This is called not knowing?!”

“How can this be my fault? I didn’t expect it to turn out like this,” Stephanie said with a hint of grievance. “Our family has always had a good relationship with the Taylor Group. Regardless, Denise wouldn’t have chosen Myrna over us…”

This was the most annoying thing for Luther. He also couldn’t understand how Myrna got involved with Denise and their relationship was still so good. He speculated irritably, “It could be related to her father. Her father taught at Nemmington and was a professor at Craydon University. Ms. Taylor is also from Nemmington; maybe they know each other.”

Is it like this? Stephanie pondered for a moment and thought that this possibility was very likely. She didn’t believe Myrna had the ability to know someone like Denise, anyway.

“But Denise has gone to her place now, what should we do?” She bit her lip, feeling uneasy. She thought she could have beaten Myrna’s face to a pulp today, completely crushing Myrna under her feet.
