Chapter 244: Only half of Melcester came for this level.
Myrna didn't see the crowd's reaction outside the Watershed Restaurant. I mainly watched without saying anything. As noon approached, the expected people started arriving one by one. Her phone kept ringing nonstop. Before Martin and Lawrence arrived, I hadn't even had a chance to say a few words to Denise.
The two of them appeared to have brought no gifts, and one person greeted Myrna: “Good morning, Myrna.” Another said, “Mya, happy birthday.”
When Denise saw Lawrence, she was momentarily stunned. She didn't know that Myrna knew Lawrence, so she instinctively used her eyes to ask Myrna. Myrna received a skeptical look from her and casually explained, “Lawrence was a former patient of mine.” Denise and Martin both knew her identity. He immediately showed a knowing expression and didn't ask any further. Myrna didn't really want to explain much either, as some things couldn't be easily explained in a short period of time.
She looked at her phone and said to the people around her, “Wait a little longer, wait for a few more friends, and then we can go in.” Ramon was completely convinced, his soul numb from the shock, and he raised his hand, saying, “It doesn’t matter; anyway, I’m not hungry.” “I was too,” someone else added.
The crowd must have been talking to him. Neither Denise nor Lawrence knew people from this social circle when they were studying at school. In their eyes, Denise and Lawrence were Myrna's older relatives. Rather than caring about this, girls like Maureen were more interested in Martin. His—Myrna's friend—was really handsome; it's just this style… so avant-garde!
Myrna quickly received a phone call from the little guy. “Hello?” The little guy said, “Sister, sister, we have arrived with Uncle Xiaojie. Where are you?” The sound coming from the phone was sweet and adorable, just like eating a yogurt.
Myrna looked towards the intersection and saw them. Her lips curled into a crimson smile as she said, “On the left, at five o'clock. Do you see them?” She saw the little guy sitting in a wheelchair, holding a phone and looking around, and quickly found the direction she had mentioned. The sound of his joyous excitement came from his phone. “Saw it,” he said. “I will come over immediately.” “Well, no rush, take your time,” Myrna replied.
Myrna hung up the phone, put away her cellphone, and said to Lawrence and the others, “The people I was waiting for have all arrived, so let’s go.” “OK,” Martin said without objection. Calvin and Yvette were together, along with Alfredo, Charles, and Blake. The two groups of people merged together in a grand manner.
The commotion caused by Blake's appearance immediately caught the attention of the journalists invited by the Stark family. However, when they noticed the group of people around Myrna, they were completely blown away. “Look, it’s Blake!” one exclaimed. Another said, “Oh my goodness, did Blake really come?” A third journalist mused, “No, that old man looks so familiar, could it be… Lawrence? What’s going on here? Wasn’t today Stephanie’s birthday? Half of Melcester’s high society was supposed to be here. With this divine combination, what were those people the Stark family invited before, just half of the high society?” Another journalist chimed in, “Hahaha! I wanted to say that too! Damn it, Lawrence! I even saw Harvey! Ms. Taylor from the Taylor Group was there too! And Blake, oh my god… Who is this Myrna? Are you kidding me? This is like half of Melcester has shown up!”
These are all experts! And there was that man in the crowd who stood out, wearing a blue striped irregular shirt that made him look like a British aristocrat. The way he carried himself, his aura… Even if they didn’t know him, they knew he was definitely not an ordinary person!
