Chapter 304: Going to Meet Someone
Myrna’s expression suddenly turned cold; her eyelashes drooped as she looked at the incoming call display on her phone. After a pause, she finally answered it.
“Hello.”
The voice was very cold. I don’t know what the person on the other end said, but she instinctively tried to put her hands in her pockets, only to realize she was wearing a skirt. She felt empty and furrowed her brow in annoyance. Her dark eyes, deep and gloomy, looked up to a nearby big and small figure happily paying a bill. She then shifted her gaze back to the phone call.
After a long while, he made a sound of agreement and said indifferently, “Send me the address; I will come over in half an hour.”
Calvin had just finished paying the bill and returned. Upon hearing her words, his eyebrows raised as he stared at her, asking, “Do you have something to do later?”
Myrna didn’t know how to tell him, so she hung up the phone, held the mobile phone in her hand, and sighed absentmindedly, “A long-lost relative has returned and wants to meet me.”
Calvin didn’t ask her who her relatives were; his deep, narrow eyes only looked at her as he said, “Do you want me to take you there?”
Myrna didn’t plan to go for long. She shook her head and said, “No need; the place he arranged is nearby. I’ll walk there myself.”
“Sister, aren’t you coming back with us?” Alfredo asked, feeling a little disappointed, clutching her small hand.
Myrna’s heart suddenly softened. She bent down and touched his head, her voice becoming gentle: “I have something to do; I’ll be back in the evening.”
“Oh.” Alfredo, disappointed as he may be, still obediently looked at her with his big, grape-like eyes and said, “I’ll wait for my sister to come back.”
He was so well-behaved and sweet. Myrna felt a sudden tug in her heart, pursed her lips, and unconsciously made a promise to him, “I will try my best to come back early. You be good at home and listen to your uncle; I will bring you a little gift when I come back tonight.”
Alfredo’s eyes lit up; there was no disappointment anymore. He looked as if he couldn’t wait for the night to come, just by blinking his eyes, and nodded heavily, “Hmm! I will definitely obediently listen to my uncle’s words!”
Myrna’s lips curled up; she was melted by his sweet expression. The mischievousness in the corners of her eyes was not so intense, and she touched his head again.
Alfredo was extremely well-behaved, pretending to be a little kitten with his fangs tucked away, comfortably squinting his eyes, allowing Myrna to stroke him.
After finishing the haircut, he blinked his big eyes and asked very obediently, “Um… sister, can I send you messages when I miss you?”
Myrna couldn’t help but recall the frequency at which the little guy sent messages, and upon looking into his eyes, she resigned herself.
“Sure, I can send it. However, I might not be able to reply to you immediately.”
After all, no matter how you put it, it is disrespectful to others when she meets someone and keeps playing with her phone during the conversation.
Alfredo was overjoyed when he heard that she was willing to message him. His fair and tender face turned rosy, and his ears turned red. He immediately said, “I will patiently wait for sister to come home.”
Haha, Uncle Xiaojie must have been so jealous.
Calvin did indeed glance at him, but his eyes were reserved, and there was a lazy curve at the corner of his mouth, showing no signs of jealousy at all.
Cedric could tell from his calm and composed demeanor and Alfredo’s smug expression that Mr. Larson had once again outsmarted Mr. Alfredo. When it came time to contact Ms. Stark, Cedric knew he would be led into a trap by Mr. Larson, causing his lips to twitch uncontrollably.
Since we had to go find someone, Myrna didn’t wait for Blake to finish choosing the gift; she said to Cedric and them, and went to the agreed location first.
The place where Karter arranged to meet was also in the city center, but not on this side of the commercial district, rather in the outskirts where white-collar workers gather.
