Chapter 308: There Is Still a Chance for Regret

He didn’t believe someone as unassuming as Myrna could book a place like the Watershed Restaurant, so he smirked arrogantly and said, “We’ll see. I might not be able to find the time.” He didn’t make a firm promise, but he sincerely added, “I will try to make time, and if I have time, I will give you a call.”

Myrna nodded. “Alright. If you have time, tell me, and I will make a reservation.”

Karter looked at her exceptionally beautiful face, a hint of regret in his gaze, but mostly exuding confidence and superiority. Seeing that he couldn’t win Myrna over for the time being, he temporarily set aside his intention, relaxed his brows, and looked at her, saying, “Mya, how are your parents treating you now?”

He’d probably heard something about Myrna’s biological parents—the Melcester Payne family. He knew the Paynes. The old man had a wide network and some influence in Nemmington. He had good relations with the Larson family and others, making him quite a prominent figure.

He didn’t mention Luther, but Myrna still chatted with him for a few moments, leaning back with relaxed shoulders and saying, “It’s alright.” She didn’t want to tell Karter too much about the specific situation.

Karter casually asked—not necessarily genuinely concerned, but he secretly had high hopes for Myrna and liked her—so he said, “You can reconsider going to Nemmington; you can change your mind before I leave Melcester.” Without waiting for her answer, he continued, “Even if you eventually decide to go to Craydon University by yourself, you can still contact me when you arrive in Nemmington. I know a few people there, and we can go out for a meal and have some fun.”

Myrna’s jawline softened a bit as she said these words, and she made a sound of agreement before changing the subject.

Karter was well-traveled and knowledgeable, a versatile person in Nemmington. He intended to win Myrna over, and when they talked, he could discuss various topics effortlessly. He could not only chat but also speak eloquently, occasionally expressing his concern for her. He was much stronger than Luther and Leann, who only knew how to manipulate people. The atmosphere of their café chat was very harmonious, as he deliberately cultivated it.

Until Myrna’s phone started vibrating frequently.

[Alfi cutie: Sister, me and little uncle have come home. (Picture)] Below is a photo of them arriving home.

[Alfi cutie: Uncle accompanied me for rehabilitation, and my ankle still hurts a lot. But I will obediently listen to my sister’s words and recover well. When I get better, I can go shopping with my sister. Hehe~] Here is a round little yellow face, with a smile that is adorable.

As news kept coming in, Myrna started constantly checking her phone. Sometimes it wasn’t intentional, but whenever her phone vibrated, she couldn’t resist the urge to see what the little guy had sent her. She held her phone in one hand, glancing at messages while occasionally raising her eyes to say a few words to Karter. Whenever she looked down, Karter could tell that she was absent-minded, with most of her attention focused on her phone.

[Alfi cutie: Sister, are you coming back for dinner tonight?] This time was an innocent face.

Myrna’s dark eyes were fixed on her phone, her fingers resting on top of it, as she sat slouched and relaxed. That sense of banditry just came through!

Just as Karter was about to finish his coffee, Myrna stood up first and said, “Karter, it’s about time for me to go back. If you have free time, remember to give me a call and don’t forget about dinner.”
