Chapter 89: The Professor From Craydon University
The next day, Myrna went to school. Rachel pulled her aside to share some major gossip: Elaine was fired. Class B needed a new teacher.
Adrian scoffed, “She should have left a long time ago; that kind of person is not fit to be a teacher.”
Rachel nodded. “Exactly. Where do you find teachers who constantly pick on students, especially students from other classes? No matter how well she teaches, if her character is bad, it’s useless. Her leaving was a relief to everyone. Good riddance! It was about time, and it was a splendid exit!”
“The school finally made a wise decision for once,” she added.
Seeing their joyful expressions, Ramon threw a wet blanket over them. “Elaine left, but a new class advisor will come for Class B. Besides, haven’t you heard?”
Rachel asked, “Heard what?”
Myrna wasn't interested in their conversation; she was simply surprised to hear that Elaine had been fired. She didn't know why, but she always had a feeling it had something to do with Calvin. Upon reflection, however, she didn't think she'd mentioned anything about her and Elaine the previous night.
She put down her backpack and took out a book. The next class was physical education, and the class was noisy; everyone was eager to go down and relax. Myrna was feeling unwell and didn't plan to attend.
Then someone announced, “A very famous professor from Craydon University is coming to our school to give lectures. He'll reportedly come for two or three days every month to teach advanced mathematics. The school is arranging public classes for all senior year students.”
Someone in the class was extremely surprised. “Craydon University? A professor? Coming to our school?”
This was too ridiculous! What kind of level is Craydon University? Melcester Central High School has a bit of a reputation in Melcester, but it doesn't even rank in Nemmington. Professors from Craydon University coming to their school when they have nothing to do—are they doing poverty alleviation?
Ramon glanced in Myrna’s direction. Myrna was great in every way except for her poor family background. He sighed, hands in his pockets, and said, “People from Class B are saying the professor from Craydon University came to our school because of the school beauty. Her boyfriend is a top student at Craydon University and has good relationships with all the professors. The school beauty’s boyfriend asked the professor, and that’s why he condescended to come to our school…”
Ever since Class A and Class B had a falling out, their relationship had been strained. Everyone was disgusted when they heard that the professor from Craydon University came because of Stephanie.
No one wanted to chime in anymore.
Rachel frowned, saying irritably, “Tsk. Stephanie and those people from Class B are going to gloat again. The professor from Craydon University has such poor judgment. On the see that dee’s past a white lotus swaying in the wind?”
Patnom poked her forehead with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. “Oh, sour, who let her find such a formidable boyfriend?”
Rachel glared at him angrily, covering her forehead and dodging away, retorting loudly, “Exactly, so it only proves that some boys in our class are incompetent, unable to invite professors from Craydon University to set up a stage for themselves!”
At that moment, Myrna’s phone rang. It was a text message from Blake:
“Mya, your dad was worried that you might not get used to studying alone at Melcester Central High School, so he applied to the school to give public lectures for three days a month until you graduate from high school.”
Myrna rubbed her forehead, feeling a sense of resignation. She knew it. When she heard the words ‘Craydon University professor,’ her heart skipped a beat. As expected…
“Right, I’ll be back in a few days. You need to behave and stay at home. I’ll bring you a gift when I return.”
After looking at the emoji behind the text message, Myrna imagined what a big man would look like sending this message. She shivered, and with a blank expression, she deleted the message.
