Chapter 104
โI wonโt. Weโll go wherever you say.โ
The next day was a day off. Chris, for once, didnโt have to go to the hospital, so he accompanied Jessica to work.
Recently, Chris had been coming to the Wilder Group more often, and no one at the company dared to say anything.
Especially the group of shareholdersโoriginally, they thought Jessica had cheated, but to their surprise, the coupleโs relationship only seemed to grow stronger.
Mr. Hickey, who had been warned by Jessica before, now looked at Chris with clear resentment every time he saw him.
But Chris never cared about what others thought. He was only slightly curious.
โMr. Hickey?โ Jessica sneered when Chris brought up the name.
โWhat else could it be? He works for the Hall family, and heโs been planted in the Wilder Group for quite a while. I donโt think itโs necessary to remove himโkeeping him around means we can always know what the Hall familyโs up to.โ
Shannon came in to deliver some documents and saw Chris, so she stepped out again to make coffee. She then placed the coffee in front of Chris.
โMichael came to see me last night. Officially, it was to explain the scandal, but really, he just wanted to ask about our collaboration with the Felton family. He knows very well he canโt win in the entertainment industry. So he tried a different angle and appeared last night with some soup.โ
Even now, Jessica didnโt belong to him, and that made Michael uneasy.
Whenever he spoke to Jessica, he was always trying to suppress his frustration.
Shannon glanced at Jessica signing the documents and chuckled.
โThat makes sense. Michael had his eye on the Wilder Groupโs high-end jewelry line. He didnโt get it the first time and probably thought heโd get another shot. He didnโt expect you to give it straight to Nina. Thatโs why heโs panicking.โ
But what Michael was really anxious about was not being able to win Jessicaโs heart.
He could sense that the Jessica no longer loved him the way she once had.
At the very least, their relationship was no longer pureโand that was exactly what made him so desperate.
โEven back then, I would never have done anything to hurt the Wilder Group. By the way, howโs Sophie doing overseas? She hasnโt answered my calls lately. Is she doing alright?โ
If Jessica hadnโt brought her up, Chris wouldโve forgotten there was still a second daughter in the Wilder family.
Sophie had also liked Michaelโand recklessly so.
She would do anything for him.
Jessica thought her little sister was too foolish, so she decided to send the latter abroad.
It had been a couple of months now.
โSheโs doing okay. Same as beforeโgoing to and from class, shopping with the other rich girls who were sent abroad. Itโs a decent life. Butโฆ she seems to have opened a livestream account. Calls herself a cosmetics influencer, and sheโs already got tens of thousands of followers.โ
Jessicaโs hand paused mid-signature.
Sophie had been spoiled. She didnโt know how to run a businessโjust how to spend money.
But when it came to makeup and fashion, she did have her own unique style.
And since she had money, it made sense that she would buy herself some followers and traffic.
After a moment of thought, Jessica said, โLet her do what she wants. Just remind herโno matter what she does, she must never drag the Wilder Group into it. Anything else is negotiable. But if she ever tarnishes the companyโs image, Iโll cut off her financial support immediately.โ
โMiss Sophie signed with a small MCN. If Iโm correct, the person behind that company is Michael. Ms. Wilder, you canโt possibly not see what Miss Sophie feels for him, right?โ
How could she not?
Their sisterly bond had always been strong, and Sophie was clearly the more pampered one.
That kind of younger sister often idolized her elder sisterโand that idolization sometimes extended to falling for the same man her sister once loved.
