Chapter 123
With that said, Joanna nodded at Chris and left.
“Dr. Green, thank you,” Joseph said in a very low voice, sounding completely weak. Lying in bed, he couldn’t turn over. He turned his head to look at the assistant beside him. “Tell Miss Felton that I woke up and I’m fine now.”
Liam rubbed his eyes. “We still have to listen to what Dr. Green says. Don’t worry about it; I’ll call Miss Felton back.”
After saying this, Liam opened the door and left.
Jake got up from the sofa and walked over. “He’s already awake, so I don’t have to guard him 24/7 anymore, right? If you need me, I can bring my laptop over. I still have to revise my thesis because the professor said there were problems.”
Actually, after Joseph woke up, he was even more in danger. Today, having seen Michael, Chris knew that, no matter what, Michael would try to kill Joseph. Since that was the case, Joseph absolutely could not be left alone in the ward.
After giving it some thought, Chris said, “Then go back and get your laptop. If there are any problems with your thesis, you can come to me anytime. I can help you revise it. You go first; I have something to talk to Joseph about.”
Jake nodded and opened the door to leave.
“I know you can’t say too much right now, but Captain Felton wants to take your statement. You didn’t wake up the past few days, but now…”
Before Chris could finish speaking, Joseph nodded and said he could do it.
“I know this matter definitely involves the two companies. I really saw who pushed me off the stage. Doctor, please call the police over. I can give a statement anytime, but I might speak slowly.”
Chris contacted Roy.
Roy had just come out of the interrogation room and was standing in the corridor smoking a cigarette. Upon hearing that Joseph was awake, he immediately called two subordinates and headed to the hospital.
A colleague driving the car glanced at him cautiously and said, “Captain, we all know this matter must be related to the Hall family. Why can’t we have Michael cooperate with the investigation?”
“I already said, don’t alert the enemy,” Roy said irritably, flicking the cigarette out the window. “This matter involves too many people, not just two companies. We have restraints in this country and can’t act recklessly like we could abroad.”
The colleague nodded. “But that makes us feel so frustrated. We know it’s Michael, but we can never alert him.”
“It’s not just us who are frustrated. Many people suffer because of Michael. Our patience now is for a long-term future. The special task force has already been set up; sooner or later, we’ll catch him.”
Roy went to the hospital and immediately looked for Chris, but he was conducting rounds with several interns, so the office was empty. He turned and went to the fire escape to make a phone call.
“Yes, I just arrived. As long as this matter is related to them, I will immediately apply for a search, but there is no evidence yet.”
While on the phone facing the corner of the wall, someone walked by.
Roy instinctively turned his head and saw a somewhat familiar profile.
It seemed to be Michael.
In a panic, Roy quickly hung up the phone.
