Chapter 125

Listen to this chapter:

Roy crossed his legs and said, “You know I never wanted to get involved in the family business, but every day when I come home, I see Nina sitting in the living room with a worried look, so I really can’t just ignore it. I keep thinking I should do something.”

“Similarly, Jessica is caught up between Michael and me. Even if I'm unhappy, I can’t say anything because I know she has something important to do. I can only help her within the hospital. Outside the hospital, I’m just a blank slate.”

About 40 minutes later, Roy’s phone rang. He said the statement had been completed.

“I’ll leave someone at the hospital to guard Joseph. The rest will depend on you. The police station has a lot going on, so I can’t meet you this time. If you have anything to say, just tell Nina. Those two should be having meetings together frequently these days.”

In response to the outburst from Joseph’s fans, the two companies decided to film behind-the-scenes footage of Joseph during his hospitalization. Fortunately, Joseph agreed to it.

A week later, various departments began to formulate a recovery plan for him. It would be great for the hospital if a celebrity stayed there for their recovery.

“The company has always treated me well. Even if there are disputes, they side with me. Since that’s the case, I absolutely cannot let personal issues damage the company’s reputation. That wouldn’t benefit me at all,” Joseph said to Liam.

After work, Chris came by as usual to check on him.

“The recovery plan will be given to you tomorrow. Just follow it. It might take another month before you can be fully discharged, then you’ll need to come to the hospital for follow-ups every two months. Your company asked me for my opinion on your comeback, and I advised them to wait a year.”

Liam reacted strongly. “No way, a whole year? He still has so many endorsements to shoot this year! And he’s about to join two film crews, both of which are really hard to get into!”

Joseph waved his hand, telling him not to rush.

“I’ll do what the doctors say.”

“I know you’re anxious, but you have to consider your health. You’re still young now, and any damage to your body might not be obvious now. But 10 years from now, or even five years later, those damages will show on the surface.”

“Okay.”

Jessica was still working overtime at the company. Chris ordered some dishes to accompany her and also called for some desserts and coffee for the colleagues working late with them.

Before this, Chris had never done such things. He hadn’t put himself in the role of the company owner’s wife.

He opened the office door and saw Jessica was in a video meeting, speaking in a language Chris couldn’t understand at all.

When she looked up and saw him, Jessica smiled and pointed to the sofa, signaling for him to sit and wait for a moment.

Chris had also come with work in mind. Regarding Joseph’s recovery plan, he thought it could be improved a bit more.

If it were someone else, this might not have been his responsibility, but the earlier Joseph recovered, the better it was for Jessica.

“Okay, then let’s leave it at that for now.”

After the video meeting ended, Jessica stretched and walked over to Chris.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and sat directly in his lap.

“I thought you got off work already? Why are you still working?”
