"I’m already divorced, what more can Michael stir up?"

“You don’t understand these businessmen,” Linda said seriously, shaking her head. “You and Jessica are divorced now, and no one can protect you. If the Hall family decides to hold you responsible, it’s bound to cause legal trouble. But right now, the Hall family doesn’t care about Michael, so don’t worry. Even if they really want to sue you, I will help you find a lawyer.”

Michael wouldn’t take it that far. He just wanted to make himself look pitiful in front of Jessica.

When he was bandaging Michael earlier, he noticed that the knife wound had merely grazed a blood vessel, so the bleeding was severe, but with proper care at the hospital, he would recover. People who didn’t understand medicine thought a lot of blood meant serious injury. But in his eyes, such clumsy methods were hilarious.

“I’ve already delivered the recommendation letter to the hospital. I've arranged for someone to get you a recommendation from Desland. You missed the first batch of exchange students, but make sure you don’t miss the next one. As for your passport, I’ll figure something out for you.”

Chris politely declined Linda’s kindness.

“Since Jessica and I are already divorced, I can handle the rest myself, as long as she doesn’t intervene.”

If Jessica hadn’t tampered with his passport, he would have already been in Desland.

“I know you’re upset, but Jessica is just like that; she doesn’t listen to anyone. Is there anything else I can do to make it up to you?”

Chris had only one thought.

“When I leave, please don’t tell Jessica where I’ve gone. Since we’ve already separated, there’s no going back. I hope we can sever ties cleanly and no longer disturb each other from now on.”

Such a good marriage ended in such a tragic way, and Linda also felt regretful.

“I’ll have someone check on your mother’s grave regularly. You just focus on your studies abroad. I’ve heard you’re a genius in this field, and no one should be able to cut off your future.”

After emergency treatment, Michael was quickly sent out and into a private ward. He lay on the bed asleep. When the doctor came to check on him, they found it odd.

“The bleeding was severe because a blood vessel was punctured, but the injury wasn’t that serious. He should have woken up by now; he shouldn’t be sleeping like this. I’ll order a test and have the nurse take him for a scan.”

After saying that, the doctor left with a few interns. Sophie had just finished the paperwork and came in. Seeing Michael’s condition, she was infuriated. She hurriedly dragged Jessica out of the room.

“Jessica! This is obviously Chris being jealous! Michael got drunk yesterday, and I let him stay at our house. Who would have thought this would happen! You can’t let Chris off this time; hurry up and divorce him! Michael confessed to you yesterday. Why didn’t you accept?”
