Chapter 176

Ashley was completely confused, but he did as he was told.

However, he wasn’t as fast as Shannon. He still hadn’t sent Chris the information he wanted when Chris was about to go to bed.

“If I had known earlier, I would’ve asked Shannon to help me. Everyone has their specialty – Ashley really isn’t cut out for this line of work,” said Chris as he hugged Jessica and they fell asleep.

Jessica raised her hand and pinched Chris’s waist, “Enough already, even Roy didn’t put in so much effort. Why are you so worried about Nina? I’m getting jealous!”

This was naturally a joke. Chris knew she wouldn’t actually get jealous over Nina and didn’t take it seriously. He only said, “Roy is always busy with his team. He doesn’t have that much time to care for Nina. When something happens, all he knows is to call and have a go at her. I have to make sure I know everything about Matthew.”

Jessica leaned against Chris’s chest, sighed, and said softly, “I really didn’t expect you to get this worked up. I told you, it’s just hype. They might not have even slept in the same room when they went into the hotel.”

According to their methods, someone would have already booked another room early on. After entering together and going upstairs, they wouldn’t actually enter the same room.

High-end hotels pay a lot of attention to privacy and wouldn’t let paparazzi sneak in, so the paparazzi could only wait outside for news.

They saw the two entering and leaving together, and assumed they spent the night together. They wouldn’t have seen anything.

“Is that so?” Chris found it unbelievable.

Jessica said, “These are all PR tactics. I’ve used them before too. Didn’t people photograph me and Michael going on a business trip? They said we entered a hotel, but Shannon and Eric were right behind us. The paparazzi didn’t even notice the two of them at all.”

These were necessary exposure tactics, which Jessica had used many times.

But Chris didn’t understand this industry or the role of commercial exposure.

Thinking about the Summit Infirmary going public next year and moving toward commercialization, Jessica felt that maybe this would be useful for him too.

“By the way, Francesca said that during the New Year, there will be visitors. Are you okay with us being together then?”

Jessica asked, “You mean our marital relationship?”

“Yeah.”

“It would only be a problem if I let you take that position with us not being married. You don’t want too many people at the hospital to know about us, but in business, there’s a focus. If you and I are a married couple, they’ll value the Wilder Group’s worth more and overestimate the Summit Infirmary’s ability – it’s all connected.”

It might sound simple, but Chris still couldn’t fully understand what Jessica had said.

So he could only do as Francesca said – be a mascot at home, just sit there and keep up appearances when visitors come.

Anyway, Francesca would help him handle things.

“Do you think it’s bad that I rely on Francesca so much?”

“What’s bad about it?” Jessica had already closed her eyes, feeling the familiar and reassuring scent on Chris.

“I had Francesca go to the Summit Infirmary to handle everything for you. Actually, she’s basically the deputy general manager there, like Jaden’s status at Hurricane Media. ‘Personal secretary’ is just a title for show.”

The treatment and salary she gave Francesca were fully according to a company deputy general manager.

The Summit Infirmary was really complicated. After successfully being listed, they would still need to find an assistant for Francesca.

Otherwise, she simply couldn’t handle it all by herself.

They had put up many decorations at all.

Jessica didn’t have time to arrange these things – Chris had been adding them bit by bit, even bringing home two pots of flowers.
