Chapter 190
โI originally thought that Michael would return to the country quietly and be dealt with without anyone knowing, saving the young couple the trouble. But unexpectedly, Michael found Sophie first. Now that their marriage is solid and they know how to handle things together, Iโll just stay out of it.โ
Albert glanced back and saw Jessica and Chris coming out of the bathroom. Jessica even wiped some water from her hand onto Chrisโs face.
Compared to before, when they always came back separately, they now looked much more suited to each other.
Lindaโs judgment had always been good; out of all the people in the world, the son-in-law she chose was definitely much better than someone like Michael. Albert had initially wanted to help out, but now it seemed unnecessary.
โSince we donโt need to get involved, then you wonโt have to worry so much, Mrs. Wilder. You just need to enjoy life. With Miss Jessica and Mr. Green around, the good days for you are still ahead.โ
Linda stood up and went upstairs.
In a single room on the second floor, her husbandโs memorial tablet was placed.
Albert handed some flowers respectfully to Linda, standing behind her. She took the flowers, looked at the tablet, and muttered a few words.
โJessica has grown up, but Sophie is still young. We have mostly spoiled that daughter, which caused her to be unable to distinguish right from wrong, and she doesnโt respect Chris much as her brother-in-law. In the past, to cooperate with Jessicaโs act, we turned a blind eye. Now, itโs time to solve this problem.โ
Linda sighed and placed the flowers in front of the memorial tablet.
โYou, on the other hand, have it easy. You donโt have to manage anything and just left me alone here to watch over the family. Donโt you feel sorry for me at all?โ
Seeing Lindaโs sadness, Albert quickly said, โMr. Wilder always cared for you, Mrs. Wilder. When he was alive, he would never let you be upset.โ
The culprits were those from the Hall family.
Since the accident happened to Mr. Wilder, Albert had set a firm goal to find the killer.
He hadnโt expected it would take so many years and that Jessica would already have grown up.
โYouโre getting old too.โ Linda still stood in the empty room. โYour son and daughter said they want to bring you to live with them in retirement. What do you think?โ
Albert shook his head. โWhen I helped you and Mr. Wilder start the business, I said Iโd stay with the Wilder family my whole life. Iโm not dead yet. There are still things I can do. No matter how reliable Miss Jessica and Mr. Green are, there are some things they canโt handle.โ
Linda glanced at Albert, clearly understanding what was on his mind.
In terms of ruthlessness, Jessica was no match for Linda.
โTheyโre all children raised with love; they donโt know what it means to be ruthless, and donโt understand that ruthlessness is what stabilizes oneโs position. But maybe thatโs for the best; less of those bad things means more virtue.โ
They wiped their hands and came out. Linda said, โIโm just waiting for when they have a child. While Iโm still strong, I want to help look after their child.โ
When this was mentioned, Jessica and Chris exchanged a glance. In the end, Chris said, โMom, weโre not in a hurry. Jessica and I are still young, and with how busy work is now, we really donโt have time to have a child.โ
โWere we not busy back then?โ Linda glanced at Jessica. It was clear without words that Jessica did not want to have a child.
When the Wilder Group was first established, Linda was already pregnant with Jessica but still gave birth. Later, as the Wilder Group gradually stabilized, many companies outside were eyeing it greedily. Back then, those who didnโt approve of your methods played very dirty. But she still had Sophie.
โBeing busy with workโ was just an excuse nowadays for not wanting children.
