Chapter 198
Impelia was cold, but Hesterfield was warm. Here, they could feel the warmth of the sun, the seaside, the beach, and most importantly, each other.
Chris and Jessica were very close; to someone who didnโt know their identities, they looked just like a young couple on their honeymoon, and not a husband and wife who had been married for five years.
They basked in the sun by the sea, enjoyed candlelight dinners at night, with bonfires lighting up the surroundings.
โYou can swim? The Wilder Group has a gym, but I never see you use it!โ
Chris climbed out of the water, while Jessica held a coconut under the sunshade, sipping from it. โThe pool inside is pretty big. When I first took over the Wilder Group, I expanded the gym, but my mom wasnโt really happy about it.โ
In fact, for a company like theirs, having a gym was a must.
Employees with good physical health could work longer and better.
It was also a kind of employee benefit โ not only employees but also their family members could come. People with good discipline managed work more smoothly.
This was a principle Jessica always believed in.
When it came to fitness, Jessica wasnโt very good, but Indya spent two hours every day in the gym.
โNever had the time,โ Chris wiped water off himself and sat beside Jessica, looking out at the endless ocean and the people splashing around in it. He smiled. โAfter the New Year, Iโll drag you to the gym.โ
โIโm not going.โ Jessica frowned, โI have even less time.โ
Chris glanced at her. โI can teach you how to swim. The gymโs empty after work. I can teach you how to swim then.โ
Jessica cocked her brows slightly. What Chris said was somewhat interesting. She smiled faintly and brought the coconut water to Chrisโs lips. โAlright then.โ
They stayed two days in Hesterfield, then headed to Westorwood.
Actually, both of them had strong tastes, but Chris was a doctor who usually paid close attention to his diet. Coming to Westorwood was a way to indulge.
โItโs quite warm here too, no need for jackets. Looks like Impelia is the coldest.โ
Chris said, โThe next stop is somewhere cold.โ
They stayed in Westorwood for two days as well. The sun was rarely seen there, and they didnโt feel so comfortable, so they left a day early and went to Harafield.
In the icy world, amidst the white snow, they embraced each other tightly. No matter how thick their clothes were, their hearts were still close together.
They held each other and felt the feelings they had for each other.
โFrom now on, letโs take some time to travel every year, okay?โ Chris asked.
Jessica said, โIโm fine with that, Iโm just worried that you wonโt have time in the future.โ
Chris held Jessicaโs hand carefully as they walked on the road. Everything around was covered in silver frost, with ice crystals on the ground. He feared she might slip, so he walked steadily.
โDidnโt Ms. Wilder find me a secretary? Francesca is so very talented, I barely have any work. By your logic, if Francesca wanted to get rid of me, itโd be easy.โ
โBut Francesca wouldnโt.โ
Francesca knew what betrayal felt like. Jessica had done a background check on her. Francescaโs character was fine, her conduct excellent โ much cleaner than many in the Wilder Group.
That was why Jessica dared to put Francesca close to Chris.
โLetโs take a cab. Itโs so cold.โ Jessica, wearing gloves, tangled one hand with Chrisโs and slipped it into his coat pocket, but she was still freezing.
Chris looked up. โWeโre almost there.โ
After walking a little longer, they were almost at the restaurant. Snow began to fall.
White snowflakes landed on their hats; some snowflakes settled on Jessicaโs black hair as well.
