Listen to this chapter:

After hearing that Jessica was going on a business trip, Michael originally planned to tag along, but unexpectedly, Jessica went off without saying a word.

Michael couldnโ€™t get in touch with Shannon, nor find out where Jessica had gone.

On the 10th of January, as soon as Jessica arrived at the company, she heard that Michael was in the lounge.

โ€œWhat is he doing here?โ€ Jessica was curious.

Shannon said, โ€œMaybe he hasnโ€™t been able to find you recently. According to your instructions, all activities related to Jason have been stopped, including filming, and right now they are focusing on Zackโ€™s filming.โ€

โ€œOkay. You have to be clear about the focus between the high-end and low-end lines. Zack is way more popular than Jason.โ€

โ€œSo Michael isnโ€™t happy about this. Thatโ€™s why he came looking for you at the company, and he arrived early this morning.โ€

Fortunately, Jessica came up using the dedicated elevator, so she didnโ€™t pass by the lounge entrance and wasnโ€™t noticed by Michael.

Jessica thought for a moment and said, โ€œTell Michael that Iโ€™m going straight to my momโ€™s house after coming back on the 10th of January, and wonโ€™t be coming to work.โ€

Knowing Michaelโ€™s temper, he would definitely go after her.

It seemed like getting rid of him was impossible.

Shannon handed Jessica several files, including preparations for the Summit Infirmaryโ€™s IPO and various government-issued certificates.

โ€œAll clear, no problems.โ€

โ€œHey-โ€

Shannon was about to leave and inform Michael when Jessica stopped her.

She felt this couldnโ€™t go on like this. Since she planned to break up with Michael completely, there was no need to keep their past ties. She also didnโ€™t want Chris to keep suffering silently.

Some things had to be made clear.

The timing was just right. Whatever she said to Michael now wouldnโ€™t affect their plans.

โ€œTell Michael to come in.โ€

Shannon had worked with Jessica for many years and immediately saw that Jessica was about to confess something.

โ€œAre you sure about this, Ms. Wilder?โ€ asked Shannon.

โ€œYes. Weโ€™re going to be opponents in the future anyway and I still want to help Jaden return to the Hall family. Being entangled endlessly with Michael is disrespectful to Jaden. If thatโ€™s the case, I might as well make things clear.โ€

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll go get Michael for you.โ€

Michael had waited several hours and finally Jessica arrived at the company. He hurried anxiously to the CEO office.

Coffee was ready inside, and as soon as Michael entered, he could smell Jessicaโ€™s distinctive fragrance.

If it werenโ€™t for Chris, everything Jessica owned would belong to him.

If Chris hadnโ€™t appeared, Jessica wouldnโ€™t have impulsively married him.

Michael felt that according to Jessicaโ€™s nature, she would have waited for him in Cheria, and she would have accepted him even if he had a child.

Besides, he could see that Jessica liked Jordan.

The only obstacles were Chris and Mrs. Wilder.

With that thought in mind, Michael was already plotting his next move.

โ€œJessica, youโ€™re finally back. The trip must have been tiring. I booked a restaurant to welcome you back,โ€ Michael said warmly as he tried to walk around the desk and approach Jessica.

Jessica raised one hand, palm outward โ€“ a clear gesture of refusal.

โ€œTake a seat first. I have something to tell you.โ€

Seeing Jessicaโ€™s serious expression, Michael felt a vague unease. Could it be about Jason?

Actually, after calming down these past few days, Michael felt he had been too awkward.

It was just that he had resented Jessicaโ€™s coldness and used work as an excuse to take up her time.

They werenโ€™t teenagers anymore. Acting like this was childish and annoying.

Michael had been trying to explain to Jessica during the past few days but never got the chance.

โ€œJason can return to work tomorrow. Iโ€™ve already asked his agent to clear all his schedule. Nothing is more important than you, Jessica.โ€
