Chapter 210

Jaden commented, "You two are becoming more and more alike now."

Jessica said, "There’s nothing wrong with couples resembling each other. I actually kept that hotel matter in mind–snatching a hotel isn’t difficult, especially when… we have a partnership with FN."

The next morning, a major scandal broke out at the Lumen Hotel, which was under Uncle Mason’s name. The hotel was implicated in artist–related “public relations,” and the police showed up, taking away quite a few people. The exclusive coverage was done by FN’s news department.

Seeing the overwhelming trending headlines, Nina laughed uncontrollably in the office and dialed Jessica’s office.

“You’re unbelievable. You conspire to do bad things and drag me along. With such a huge trending topic, why didn’t you let Hurricane Media take it for themselves?"

Jessica kept her eyes on the document in front of her. Shannon pointed to a spot, and Jessica quickly signed her name, then made several hand gestures. Shannon nodded, switched to another document, and handed it over.

"He’s my uncle after all. Broadcasting his own scandals might be a bit too much. This time, it’s thanks to your agents‘ skills–they managed to send several artists from the Hall Group’s entertainment department to the Lumen Hotel for “public relations.”

Indeed, today’s trending topic was about the Hall family’s entertainment department. Run by Michael, that department wasn’t one of the best in the country–the artists were second–rate but stable, and the department had rarely been involved in major scandals. Nina had told her own agents to find ways to coax those artists into going to the Lumen Hotel to “handle public relations.” And the “public relations” was meant to secure the male and female lead roles of a certain movie.

From the looks of things now, before the casting even finished, before the filming even began, the project had already skyrocketed in popularity. Nina laughed, then rested her chin in one hand as the smile on her lips slowly faded. Her gaze shifted to another piece of news on the computer screen, and her expression became much more serious.

“I thought this would be a heavy blow to Michael, but it turns out we only hurt the Hall family–it didn’t affect him at all. Have you seen the overseas reports?”

“Yes.” Jessica looked up.

On the wall opposite her desk, a built–in hidden television rotated out from within the wall. International news headlines filled the screen.

“Aitairy CEO Elfa Appears” “True Identity of Aitairy’s Hidden CEO” “Shocking! The CEO Hidden for Years Is Actually Cherian!”

Following those headlines appeared Michael’s face. Jessica’s hand tightened slightly.

It really was Michael! It seemed all their suspicions and nightmares had come true.

“Looks like we’ll need to be much more careful from now on. We investigated Aitairy so extensively, yet never uncovered that Michael was its CEO. Looks like he has been hiding a lot of things.”

Shannon also turned around. She recognized that familiar face but with a different expression. At least in front of Jessica, Michael had never shown this side of himself. There was a smile and gentleness, yet deep in his eyes, a coldness was emerging. Michael was answering questions, and at one unguarded moment, he glanced at the camera. Through the television, across the ocean, it felt as though Michael was making eye contact with Jessica.

At the hospital, Chris and Ashley also saw that interview with Michael. The two exchanged a glance.

“Things just got more complicated.”

Aitairy had committed countless illegal acts yet continued to evade consequences. Even Roy still couldn’t truly shut Aitairy down. That alone showed Michael’s power and cunning.
