โHey, sit!โ The night attendant was pushed aside, so he tried to steady himself against the wall. He pointed at Chris and shouted, โHeโs here! Heโs here!โ
Jessica immediately instructed her people to surround Chris.
She walked toward him, step by step, and finally stopped right in front of him.
Chris tightly held onto his ticket and passport, while Jessica only stared into his eyes. With a slight force from one hand, she snatched them away from his grasp and tossed them to a bodyguard behind her.
โI havenโt agreed yet. Where do you think youโre going?โ
โWeโre already divorced. Itโs my freedom to go wherever I want. Are you going to restrict my personal freedom? I can sue you!โ
Jessica smiled, mocking his naivety. โWeโve been married for five years, and youโre still this cute.โ
After that, she waved her hand, and two bodyguards immediately moved to restrain him, one on each side.
Chris didnโt want to shout or act crazy, but the flight attendants, who were watching yet didnโt dare act, truly caused him to feel cold deep down.
Jessica stood in place and said to the people who had helped, โThank you for helping me find my husband. He has bipolar disorder, and when heโs in a bad mood, he likes to run off. Last time in Lonat, he almost drowned himself. Iโll keep an eye on him. Thanks for your help.โ
She also had someone deliver a bunch of fruit to the check-in counter. โThank you for your hard work.โ
In the MPV, the bodyguards were standing guard around the car, and Chris was alone in the cabin. He tried to get out of the car several times, but each time he was blocked. Finally, when the door opened, Jessicaโs cold gaze met his.
The partition went up, and the small space was instantly left with just the two of them.
โTrying to run again?โ said Jessica, gripping Chrisโs passport. With both hands, she forcefully ripped it into pieces. โHow is it that you still havenโt learned? Do I have to personally come to the airport to catch you? Let me think, how should I punish you?โ
Chris felt a chill down his spine. He instinctively took a step back, but the chairโs backrest blocked his path.
His cheek rested in Jessicaโs hand, and he could feel the pain as her long nails dug in.
He took a deep breath and tried to calmly talk to Jessica.
โWeโre divorced, but I didnโt even know about it.โ Jessica rummaged through Chrisโs bag and found their divorce certificate. The names on it, as well as the date it was issued, all seemed strange to her.
Chris scoffed, โYou had the secretary pick up the divorce certificate for us. This is the first time Iโve seen how ruthless you can be.โ
In the past, Chris would always go along with whatever Jessica wanted, never saying such things. But now, she had gone too far, and Chris didnโt want to indulge her anymore.
โYou tricked me into signing the divorce agreement by lying to me? Looks like youโve learned quite a bit these past five years.โ
โLying to you?โ said Chris with a hint of sadness. โThat day, you were in a rush to see Michael. I said I wanted a divorce, and you signed without saying a word. How is that lying?โ
Jessica squinted her eyes. โChris, werenโt we getting along? Why did we have to bring up the divorce? Or is there something else out there thatโs attracted you?โ
โI brought up the divorce so you and Michael could have some space.โ
He hadnโt managed to leave, and the plane had already taken off. Chris finally exploded with anger. โJessica, why canโt you just let me go? I just wanted a divorce! I donโt want anything youโve given me, and I donโt want you either!โ
โChris!โ
That last sentence hurt Jessica deeply. She suddenly moved forward, grabbing his arm and pulling him close. โYouโd better take that back. Between us, Iโve always been the one in charge. Itโs never been your place to decide whether or not you want me.โ
