Listen to this chapter:

Indya had so many ex-boyfriends that no one could keep track or tell who was who, but whenever Maggie mentioned one, Jessica immediately knew it had to be that particular one.

Before Indya joined the Wilder Group, she also had a boyfriend. Back then, Indya was quite serious about him and thought they would get married, so she cared a lot about the relationship. But not long after, Indya was discovered by Jessica and brought into the Wilder Group. After joining the Wilder Group, her workload skyrocketed. Indya could no longer spend as much time with her boyfriend as before. The result was simple–the man cheated.

It wasn’t that dramatic, though; it didn’t reach the point of the guy sleeping with another woman. Everything was just emotional. The boyfriend realized he liked someone else and confessed to Indya.

At first, Indya wanted to try to save the relationship, but Jessica suddenly sent her on a business trip, and that was the end of any chance to fix things. When she returned, the two were already together. In the end, it was a peaceful breakup. After so many years, neither Indya nor anyone else expected the two to meet again; even Indya found it unbelievable.

“Why is Anthony Jenson in charge of the Montvue Tower project? I heard Anthony went abroad,” Shannon whispered to Indya. “Anthony was responsible for a large outdoor design project overseas two years ago and went abroad with the team. It was supposed to be a big project that would last three to five years. He shouldn’t be back now.”

Right, the person who was supposed to be overseas suddenly appeared in front of her. Indya barely recognized him until Anthony came over and shook her hand, saying it was quite a coincidence. Indya slapped her forehead and reached for her wine glass, but before she could touch the decanter, another hand gently held the bottle’s mouth.

“Take it easy.” Blake’s voice was still pleasant. Many films used Blake’s original voice, because if they used dubbing, it would lose the unique flavor of his voice. Indya didn’t have a good impression of Blake. She didn’t like men who looked better than herself. It was one thing for women to be prettier, but how could a man be better looking than her?

“It’s okay, I’m a good drinker. You’ll see when I drink with Sam next time,” said Indya.

Sam, standing next to Blake, said slowly, “I’m an average drinker. I haven’t been to drinking parties in years, so I’ve gotten worse. I definitely can’t keep up with you. But girls shouldn’t drink like this; it’s bad for your health. How about grape juice?”

Indya was rendered speechless. After working for so many years, everyone thought women from the Wilder Group were superhuman, made of iron. Few people saw them as ordinary girls anymore. Before Indya could react, Blake had already replaced the red wine with grape juice and pushed it in front of her. “Same color, just for show,” he said.

Indya was rendered speechless again. Such a self-deceiving trick was rarely used at drinking parties. But whatever, it wasn’t the day to get drunk anyway.

Meanwhile, Chris and Jessica were both watching closely. Since this was an internal celebration banquet for senior executives, everyone here was on Jessica’s side. They all knew each other well, so there was nothing to hide. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Chris noticed Indya’s bad mood and found Blake’s attitude toward Indya intriguing.

“Indya is responsible for Blake’s public relations. They’ve only met once. Blake and I arrived earlier, and no one was in the room. Guess what Blake said to me?” Jessica asked Chris.

Chris studied the somewhat awkward atmosphere between the two and guessed, “Blake didn’t fall for Indya, did he?”

Jessica sighed and said, “Bingo. Blake said that from now on, Indya must accompany him at all public relations events, whether on business trips or otherwise. And… he hopes I can help set them up. Here I am, an employer who also has to play matchmaker.”
