Chapter 285
But Aitairy had developed so many drugs over the years, all of which had achieved great success in the industry. What did this indicate? It indicated they had other methods.
โSo you suspected that Felix approached me to get to know me, and also to learn about Michael?โ Chris frowned. โHeโs got the wrong person. Michael and Iโฆ we were definitely not friends or acquaintances.โ
โNews of the Wilder Groupโs alliance with FN has long spread. The person in charge of FN is Nina, and her brother is Roy. Given that, itโs not hard to guess Roy and I would investigate the Hall family.โ
โWhat should I do then? Felix invited me to play tennis next week.โ
โGo if you have to,โ Jessica said dismissively. โMaking friends with Felix wonโt hurt, and at most, he probably just wants internal information from you.โ
Her eyes flicked as she reminded Chris, โYou can leak some unimportant information to Felix without worries. His channels differ from ours, maybe he can uncover different results. If necessary, I will step in.โ
โAlright.โ Chris felt much reassured by Jessicaโs words.
The night in Impelia was dazzling with lights; the busiest streets were still crowded with people. Anthony walked into an unfamiliar alley and pushed open the door at the end. The sight beyond the desolation was unbelievable. The alley looked somewhat dilapidated; cars couldnโt even drive in. This was the old part of Impelia, with no renovation plans in the next 10 years. Yet, behind this decaying area, opening a different door revealed a brand-new world โ a world of intoxication and luxury, dazzling lights, and opulent nightlife.
Anthony looked at the address on the business card in his hand. When he pushed the door open, the security guard immediately stopped him. โSorry, sir, this place is membership only. No membership, no entry.โ
Anthony might have been in Impelia for many years, but he never knew this place existed. He withdrew his surprised gaze and instinctively reached for his phone. โHow do I become a VIP?โ he asked.
The guard sized Anthony up. Looking at his watch, then his shoes, the guard said in a formal tone, โTo be honest, our club requires a capital verification for VIP membership.โ The mention of capital verification meant money alone wouldnโt solve the problem.
Anthony looked a little flustered, put away his phone, and was about to leave, silently mocking himself for overthinking. The business card slipped from his hand. One of the guards picked it up and immediately called out, โSir, please wait.โ
Anthony stopped, puzzled. Two guards glanced at the card; one handed it back to Anthony with both hands, and the other turned to open an inner door. โSir, you have an invitation. Sorry for the delay; I will guide you in.โ
Anthony looked down at the card. This card had appeared at his roomโs door that morning, tucked behind the doorplate with a note asking him to come to the address on the card at night. He hadnโt expected the card itself to be the invitation. The card looked simple โ a gilded rose painting with four minimal digits: 1924. This appeared to be the barโs name. The back was handwritten with an address, no signature. The note said that coming to the cardโs address could solve his current problem.
Anthony had indeedโฆ gotten into big trouble. As long as the trouble could be resolved, he was willing to take any risks. As the doorman walked farther away, Anthony glanced back. The door closed again, hiding behind it the barโs decadent decorations, the soft and gentle music, andโฆ the class he would never belong to.
โSir, itโs right here.โ
