“That’s actually a good idea,” said Chris. “I’ll leave everything to you.”

“Actually, the more important thing is that once you become chairman, I can see you anytime, anywhere. Whenever the board meets, you’ll have to come even if you don’t want to,” Jessica squeezed Chris’s hand. “I want to see you anytime, even at the hospital.”

“Stop fooling around.”

When she mentioned this, Chris remembered that Michael’s daughter had been in a car accident and was still hospitalized. These past few days, Chris hadn’t gone to work and didn’t know how Jordan was doing.

That day when Jessica left the hospital, she originally planned to visit Jordan every day for a while, but the company got busy, and it was delayed until now.

“If you hadn’t mentioned it, I’d have forgotten,” Jessica wiped her mouth and called Shannon in.

“Go check on Jordan’s condition. If she needs anything, send it over directly. Also, get the board members ready. I’ve already found someone for the honorary chairman position. Submit Chris’s name and let them review it.”

Shannon glanced at Chris.

“Understood.”

The honorary chairman position spread around the Summit Infirmary, and many recognized Chris’s abilities. However, some doctors who couldn’t get the position complained, saying Chris got it because of his looks or connections. Chris ignored such comments entirely.

When Jonathan heard Chris agreed to be chairman, he called him over for a talk.

“Chris, didn’t you want to study abroad? But now that you’re honorary chairman, you definitely can’t leave anytime soon. Have you thought this through?”

Chris nodded.

“Thank you for your support, teacher. My skills aren’t refined enough yet. If I get the chance in the future, I’ll definitely study abroad more. But for now, I want to help my wife.”

Jessica and Chris’s relationship was no secret among the higher-ups, so Jonathan naturally knew. Looking at Chris’s appearance, Jonathan sighed.

“Just make sure you think through your situation. Marriage takes compromise. You look much better than before, so I guess you’ve found the key. I won’t say much more. Just manage your work and family well.”

Chris still had some things in his dormitory. He usually rested there during night shifts. That afternoon, after his rounds had soaked his sleeves, Chris went back to the dorm to change his shirt. Jake was sitting on the bed.

“Hello, Chairman,” Jake joked. “Wow, I’m actually sharing a dorm with the chairman. I’m so lucky! When one rises, all others rise with him. Don’t forget me when you become successful, Chairman!”

Chris changed his clothes without looking up.

“What are you talking about?”

“You earned that chairman position with your own ability. I respect your skills. By the way, Dr. Wilson hasn’t been very happy lately. I heard he put in a lot of effort to get the honorary chairman role and even treated the former chairman to dinner.”

Jake sat up straight and made a number gesture to Chris.

“He spent that much on gifts, but in the end, you got the position. Dr. Wilson has been unhappy these days, saying nonsense in the hospital. Don’t mind it.”

“I don’t care. Whether I get the chairman position or not doesn’t matter to me. I just want to help the people I love while I’m in that seat. Otherwise, I wouldn’t want it,” Chris said.

“We’ll talk about that later.”

Dr. Ben Wilson was a senior at the hospital. He had worked at the Summit Infirmary for over 20 years and was always diligent. He was promoted to director more than 10 years ago.
