Chapter 96
Seeing that Jennifer still had things to do, Jessica wasn’t in a hurry. After all, there was nothing much going on at the company today, and Shannon could handle it. So she asked for a pot of tea and sat nearby, scrolling through her phone, occasionally chatting with Chris.
“Why are you drinking tea now, old-timer?” Jessica said, “Chris said coffee hurts my stomach. I haven’t eaten yet today, so I don’t want coffee.”
Jennifer clicked her tongue a few times. “You, huh? Now you like it so much, but what were you doing before? I thought you couldn’t live without coffee.” Saying this, Jennifer sat up and stared at Jessica for a long time.
“You’re actually just as extreme as Michael when you’re in love—it’s fiery and passionate. When you don’t love, you want to send people to jail. Woman, you’re dangerous.”
A waiter knocked and came in, bringing Jessica’s favorite tea. She thought it would be just the tea, but then a group of people came in behind, placing many dishes on the table. The dishes were arranged like an assembly line. The table was so big it was almost overflowing; the dishes were stacked on top of each other.
After the waiter left, Jessica almost wanted to pull Jennifer over and give her a beating. “Is Michael not paying your salary? Doesn’t he care if you eat?”
“I’ve heard Twilight’s food is top-notch. Since I rarely come here, I have to try it,” said Jennifer, stuffing a piece of pork into her mouth. “Besides, Michael’s been so busy these days he hasn’t had time to come home. Oh, by the way, did you see that Michael got involved in a scandal?”
Jessica hadn’t had time to look, but she did know about it. Michael had just taken over the Hall family’s entertainment company. He was definitely busy at the start, and scandals were normal. And she knew because Michael had personally called to explain.
“The entertainment world is deep and messy, but the female celebrity involved in the scandal with Michael has been pretty popular lately. Two of her dramas are doing well, and I even found time to watch. She acts very well,” Jennifer praised Michael’s eye for talent.
Michael called to calm Jessica down so she wouldn’t get angry about the scandal, but she only wanted to laugh when she got the call. Entertainment news was all about grabbing attention, so they exaggerated everything. They said the actress often came and went from Michael’s house and even looked after his daughter. Then someone tried to clarify Michael’s relationship with Jessica. So the scandal was fake, but the close relationship between Michael and Jessica was real. In the end, the target was still Jessica. Because of this, she disliked it even more.
“I found something,” Jennifer said after eating a sandwich. She pushed her computer forward and sighed deeply. “You sold me out. The person Roy wants to catch knows a bit about IT and covers their tracks perfectly.” Even she had spent two days looking for this person.

Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Roy walked in wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. Jennifer sized Roy up. “Captain Felton, heir of the Felton family and leader of the criminal investigation team, how can you dress so shabbily? This outfit… probably costs less than 100 bucks, right?”
Roy frowned, looking very annoyed. “Why do you care what I wear?”
Jennifer closed her laptop. “I don’t care what you wear, but then don’t make me find people for you.”
Roy was rendered speechless. He looked at Jessica, hoping she would say a good word for him.
Jessica shrugged helplessly. “She’s a free agent. She never listens to me.”
Finally, Roy apologized resignedly, “Next time I come see you, I’ll wear a full custom suit; won’t embarrass you. Did you find the person yet? Three people have been killed. If I can’t find them soon, I really have to go inherit the family business!”
