Episode 118

The question hung heavy in the air, its implications unspoken. Kailee knew, deep down, that Elizabeth loved Elijah, despite her current mask of indifference. That love had cost Elizabeth dearly—her pride, her peace, perhaps even a part of herself. Yet, Kailee couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. Given the chance to stand beside someone like Albin, she would have grasped it fiercely. Despite her privileged background, she had never known such a relationship.

Elizabeth shrugged, unfazed. "Have I ever so much as touched the Norris family's wealth for myself?"

Kailee hesitated, knowing the answer but unable to admit it.

Refusing to yield, she pressed her final point. "Do you really mean it? You don't love Elijah anymore?"

Elizabeth's expression hardened. Her voice, steady and cold, cut through the air. "No, I don't. Love is a luxury, and not everyone is worth the cost."

Elijah approached, fearing Kailee was harassing Elizabeth. Instead, he found her calmly declaring her emotional detachment. He felt a fool. Elizabeth, now resembling a defensive cat, was prepared to scratch anyone who threatened her. She would no longer suffer in silence.

Rage simmered beneath Elijah's calm exterior as he spoke coldly. "Elizabeth, bad habits are easily formed, but good ones require dedication. You've achieved nothing, yet you speak such nonsense. Marriage transcends love—it's about responsibility."

Soren, sensing the escalating tension, intervened. "Mr. James, this is a public space. Choose your words carefully. If paparazzi capture any negative remarks about my lead actress, I will hold you accountable. Moreover, it's quite inappropriate for a man to berate a woman publicly." His meaningful glance served as a clear warning.

Elijah's eyes darkened as he positioned himself protectively—or possessively—before Elizabeth. "I'm addressing my wife. What business is this of yours?"

Ignoring Elijah's claim, Soren turned to Elizabeth. "I apologize for tonight's complications. Allow me to take you home."

Just as Elizabeth seemed ready to accept, Elijah seized her wrist. "You're coming home with me."
