Episode 133

“Alright,” Elizabeth responded, ready for the task.

With Ruby gone, Elizabeth focused on the sample script. The story was a contemporary romance, a genre she found manageable; however, the protagonist strongly resembled Sandra—a seemingly innocent woman with a manipulative undercurrent.

Elizabeth found the recent popularity of such characters among her clients perplexing. Had she been writing under Katrina’s pseudonym, she would have refused the project instantly, even for a hundred million. But her current financial constraints compelled her to comply.

The script company enthusiastically reviewed the sample, raising no objections about the cost. “This is excellently written,” they stated. “We’re prepared to pay a million, though our commission is modest.”

Elizabeth replied, “That works, but I require a sixty percent advance. I’m in a difficult financial situation, and if that’s not possible, I’ll need to consider other options.”

Meanwhile, at the script company, the owner pondered Elizabeth’s proposal when Sandra entered. Her arms were laden with shopping bags, oversized sunglasses partially obscuring her face, though a slight frown hinted at her displeasure.

“You appearing feels like my workday never ends,” he remarked, readily taking the bags. “What brings you here?”

Sandra gracefully seated herself at his desk, removing her sunglasses with a flourish. “I was nearby and thought I’d stop by. Have you found the script I requested? It’s been a week, and I’ve heard nothing.” Her online reputation was suffering, and she needed a high-quality script to recover her standing. The script had to be compelling, and the protagonist needed to mirror her own personality to ease her performance. Established screenwriters often avoided such projects, leading her to this company. Still relatively new and eager for clients, they valued her business.

“Your request has been our top priority,” the owner reassured her, offering water and opening a file on his laptop. “Take a look. We’ve found a promising new talent. Her work rivals Katrina’s. Give her time, and she’ll be a major success.”

Sandra looked skeptical but leaned closer to examine the script. After reading, her skepticism vanished, replaced by approval.

“Wow, this is good—far better than that ‘Blazing Sun’ mess I’m stuck in. Let’s get her on board, quickly! Script quality has plummeted lately, and I desperately need something this strong for my career shift.”
