Foxfire County, nestled around Orkset City, was home to the serene Jade Lake, a place brimming with historical allure. The area had resisted modern development, leaving its pristine landscapes untouched—a rare gem where nature reigned supreme. Elizabeth had once visited this idyllic locale with Elijah during a project survey; its enchanting scenery had left such a mark on her that she wove its charm into one of her scripts.
Recently, Freddie had learned of Jade Lake's newfound fame, thanks to internet celebrities. The resulting buzz prompted local authorities to consider transforming the area into a tourist hub. Fearing that impending construction might disrupt their shoot, Freddie decided to film the lake scenes ahead of schedule.
Since her explosive argument with Elijah, Elizabeth had immersed herself in her work, throwing her energy into the film crew's efforts. Elijah, however, hadn't contacted her—not a call, not a message. It was as if the ties binding them had vanished. Yet, shadows of their past lingered. Sandra's Twitter posts occasionally contained subtle, almost coded references to Elijah—hints only someone intimately familiar with him would recognize. Elizabeth suspected these cryptic gestures were directed at her, intended to provoke. But to what end? To gloat? What exactly did Sandra have to boast about? Elizabeth had left willingly, without regret.
With an exasperated sigh, she blocked Sandra on Twitter. Competing in such a pointless game of smoke and mirrors wasn't worth her time or peace of mind.
“Elizabeth, the skies have cleared for now, but rain might return soon. We need to pick up the pace.”
