Episode 36

Just then, Sophia entered, carrying a stack of paperwork. “Mr. James, the examination results are in. Everything looks satisfactory. It’s all under control. What a relief!”

Elijah nodded solemnly, absorbing her words before turning his attention back to Sandra. “I need to return to the office now. Oliver will visit later to assist you. If anything arises, have Sophia inform him.”

Sandra noticed his preoccupation. A part of her wanted to ask him to stay, but after a moment, she offered a supportive grin. “You should go. I’ll handle things.”

After Elijah’s departure, Sophia quietly closed the door and turned to Sandra, her face alight with enthusiasm. “You won’t believe who I ran into!”

Sandra, disinterestedly discarding the reports, arched an eyebrow. “Who?”

“Elizabeth Campbell, and her agent, Ruby Curtis,” Sophia replied, pulling a chair closer. “They seemed engrossed in conversation. It appears Elizabeth’s neglected leg injury reopened today, and she also sustained burns. It might even scar!”

Sandra stopped twirling her fingers, her focus sharpening. She recalled Oliver mentioning a fire at Elizabeth’s family home that evening in the club’s private lounge. Elizabeth had likely been present during the incident. Elizabeth was enduring a serious ordeal, while Elijah had been attending to Sandra's minor ailment?

A sly smile touched Sandra’s lips. After his departure, Elijah had rushed into marriage. Initially, Sandra believed it was a provocative act, but she increasingly doubted Elizabeth’s significance in Elijah’s life. She’d overestimated Elizabeth’s importance. Even with a wedding ring, Sandra knew she was the one who mattered most to him.

With a faint smirk, she dismissed the topic. “Don’t worry about her.” To Sandra, Elizabeth was a defeated competitor.

Sophia, misunderstanding, nodded. “Absolutely. With Mr. James supporting us, there’s no need to worry about the role. We just need to wait for the good news. By the way, didn’t you mention that Elizabeth and Elijah have been experiencing marital problems?”

Sophia steered the conversation. “Sandra, think about it. Mr. James is a rare gem; with so many eyes on him, now that there’s a possibility he might be single again, you need to push harder for that divorce and secure your position as Mrs. James.”

Sandra remained silent, her expression thoughtful.
