Episode 67

Taking a deep breath, Elizabeth finally broke the silence, her voice trembling slightly. "Melany, there's something I need to tell you… Elijah and I haven't consummated our marriage." The words tumbled out, leaving an uneasy silence.

The confession hung in the air, a mixture of vulnerability and release. Melany's warm smile faltered, freezing like a captured image. She recalled Billie's earlier comments about Elizabeth and children; suddenly, everything made sense—this explained the absence of any baby news. Her expression shifted to empathetic sorrow, tinged with anger toward Elijah.

Taking Elizabeth's hand, Melany's grip was firm yet comforting. "Elijah married you, and with that, he took on the duty to cherish you. I can't believe he dared to treat you like this—for two years! Don't worry, Elizabeth. I'll make sure he hears a piece of my mind!"

Elizabeth, feeling the warmth of Melany's hand, squeezed back gently. "Please, Melany, don't be upset. There's something more I need to tell you." With a deep breath, she began to recount the scars of her marriage—how Elijah's blind devotion to Sandra had hurt her, and how they were now nearing a reconciliation. Each word felt like reopening an old wound, and tears spilled down her cheeks, betraying her composure.

Melany tenderly wiped away Elizabeth's tears with her scarf. "Don't cry, dear. We failed to raise Elijah properly. He's always been stubborn, secretive. But I never imagined he could be so cruel to you…" Her voice trailed off, punctuated by a sigh.

Elizabeth squeezed Melany's hand. "I understand. He only has Sandra in his heart. Now that they're rekindling their relationship, you'll probably have a great-grandchild soon."

At the mention of Sandra, Melany's face hardened. "No, no, no! That woman could never replace you in my eyes. As far as I'm concerned, you're my only granddaughter-in-law."
