Peering through the curtains, her eyes widened at the sight. A stylish man with striking silver hair sat at the table, gracefully pouring coffee. He wore a sleek black designer T-shirt and chic, light-washed, distressed jeans—both from renowned brands—his grin playfully alluring. Amid the classically elegant décor, he appeared conspicuously modern.
The noise caused him to pause and glance up. “Ms. Sophia?” he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Elizabeth, ever open-minded, quickly masked her surprise, entering with a warm nod and smile. “Hi, Mr. Rodgers.”
“Just Soren, please.”
Soren set down the coffee pot, discreetly signaled the waiter to leave, and rose gracefully to offer Elizabeth a seat. “Did the candidate not accompany you?”
Resuming his seat and pouring coffee for Elizabeth, he complimented her. “Your beauty truly stands alone, unmatched in this industry. Your appearance alone epitomizes the heroine I envisioned.”
“Actually, I’m here to put myself forward for the lead role,” Elizabeth responded, accepting the coffee and meeting Soren’s gaze. The chandelier light danced in her eyes, making them twinkle.
Soren paused, a flicker of realization crossing his features. Elizabeth’s proposal, though unexpected, was fitting. As the original author, she possessed a deep understanding of her characters—an insight unique to her. Her stunning appearance seemed a fortunate boon.
Soren tapped his fingers idly on the table. “With some polish on your acting skills, fame awaits. However…” His tone shifted. “Acting demands dedication and practice… I imagine you, Ms. Sophia, are particularly keen to see your character portrayed accurately.”
As a shrewd businessman, Soren allowed little room for error. He didn't invest without expecting returns. A lackluster performance could jeopardize the entire venture.
Elizabeth replied, her voice carrying pride and wistfulness, “I had an engagement with Nathan Films and participated in their acting workshops… However, personal issues necessitated a career hiatus.” Nathan Films, renowned for its prestigious standing and workshops led by distinguished educators, had nurtured numerous award-winning talents.
Noticing this, Soren’s demeanor brightened. His reservations faded. He ceased his tapping, refilled Elizabeth’s coffee with newfound enthusiasm. “I’ll reach out to the lead actor and set up a meeting for you both to…” he began, but was interrupted by a melodic voice from the doorway.
“Elijah, this spot is quite near your office, and it’s lovely. I think I’ll start bringing lunch over so we can eat together during your breaks.”
