Chapter Twenty - You tricked me. -1
Alyssa Wyatt has been behaving and only talking to me if he needs anything work-related. I am thankful for that. I was dreading coming in this morning. I wasn’t sure how he would react, or if I would be able to control myself.
“We need to go out and meet a client. I know you are due your lunch break, but I will let you finish an hour early,” Wyatt says, appearing in my office.
“There is nothing on your schedule,” I reply.
“It is a last-minute thing.” He smiles.
I nod and gather my things to leave. He places his hand on the small of my back as we head out. I move away. He looks at me strangely.
“I don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea about us?”
“Maybe you should care less about what other people think,” he suggests.
“I would rather not be the woman rumored to be screwing her boss.”
He shakes his head and places his hands at his side. He keeps them there until we arrive at the car park, and then he does it again. I don’t push him away this time because no one is around. He leads me to his car, opening the door to let me climb in first. I feel his eyes burning into my ass. I am not surprised. I thank him, and he closes the door behind him, running around to climb into the driver’s seat.
I have no idea where his meeting is. He must have arranged it with whoever he is meeting. I am usually the one to arrange places and times for business meetings. The drive is silent, but it isn’t uncomfortable. I am lost in my thoughts. Wyatt’s hand landing on my knee pulls me from my thoughts.
I turn to face him.
“Yes?”
“Are you okay?” he asks.
“I am fine.” I smile, swatting his hand away, and turn to watch out the window.
He chuckles, “You were serious about nothing happening, uh?”
“Yes, did you think I was joking?”
“Kind of, yes. I thought you were being stubborn just because you can be,” he says.
“I meant it.”
I roll my eyes.
He doesn’t say another word. We drive for what feels like forever, but it is probably only about ten minutes or so. We arrive outside one of the best Japanese restaurants in the state. It is so good; it’s expensive and exclusive to a certain clientele. Somewhere I have never been. I could never afford such a place.
“Why have we stopped here?”
“This is where the meeting is. It is a working lunch,” he smiles.
Chapter Twenty - You tricked me. -2
Thank God I dress nicely for work, or I couldn’t go into such a place without judgment. We climb out of the car. Wyatt slips his arm around me, guiding me inside. He tells the front-of-house staff his name, and they soon start fussing over him. It is the same everywhere he goes. We are quickly shown to our table and seated. We were the only two there. The waiter left a drinks menu before leaving our table.
“Would you like some wine?” he asks.
I shake my head. “No, I don’t drink while working. When does the other person or people arrive?”
A smirk curls on his lips. “There is no one else. It is only us.”
“Wait, what? You tricked me?” I whine.
He laughs, “Yes, because I knew it would be the only way to get you to have lunch with me.”
“God, you are annoying. I can leave, you know that, right?” I ask, annoyed.
“No, you can’t because you are still on the clock, kitten. You will stay put. We will have some wine and order food,” he states firmly.
“Fine, but if I’m on the clock, you will pay me for it,” I reply smugly.
“I planned on it.” He smiles.
I roll my eyes, and he orders us some wine. How does he plan on getting back to the office if he has been drinking? He can’t drive. I am sure he has a plan. The food menus arrive with our drinks. I pick them up and take a look.
“Can we not go somewhere else? This place is so expensive.” I sigh.
“No, we are eating here. Don’t let the price bother you, I am paying. You should get used to expensive things because when I finally make you mine, you will be spoiled in ways you didn’t know possible, inside and outside of the bedroom.” He answers confidently.
My eyes widen. “Excuse me? What makes you think I am going to be yours?”
He rests back on the chair and takes a sip of his wine. “I don’t think, I know, beautiful.”
“Not happening.” I protest.
“It will. Now, order.” He demands.
God, does this man not give up? I lift the menu and groan. I should have seen this coming when he told me it was a last-minute meeting. He is never so unorganized. It was all part of the plan to get me alone at lunch. I should know all his little tricks by now. He is not going to make it easy for me to keep a distance between us.
We were in a town car on the way to Wyatt’s place. He decided we weren’t going back to the office today. We would work from his place. Why, I don’t know. He is wrongly mistaken if he thinks things will change when he gets me alone.
The car comes to a stop, and the driver opens the door for us. Wyatt climbs out first, offers me his hand, and helps me out. We thank the driver and make our way inside. I am still amazed by the place.
“Where are we working?”
“We aren’t working.” He shrugs.
“What? We are done for the day, I am going home,” I insist.
“You aren’t. You will stay here with me. I am sure we can find ways to occupy ourselves.”
“Why do you need to be so damn stubborn and bossy all the time?”
He reaches for me and pulls me against him. “I am determined, kitten.”
“Why can’t you leave me alone? You have plenty of women who would happily service you.” I sigh in frustration.
He grips my face, and I moan deeply. “Because I don’t want any of them…”
“You are trying to say that you want me out of your office?”
“Out of all the women you know? None of those models and whatever else that stroll in and…”
He presses my back against the wall. “Yes. I want you. I have made that clear. Those other women don’t interest me now because they are too eager to please. There is no chase or trying with them. But you get under my skin in a way no one has in a while. You fight me, and your feisty side turns me on, even if it does make me want to spank your sexy little ass until you do as you are told.”
Each word comes out in a growl, his eyes dark and dancing with lust. I swallow hard. I open my mouth to speak, but no words come out. Damn it! He has gotten me again. He let go of my face, smirked, and walked away confidently.
Asshole! I groan in frustration. I am tempted to walk out of the front door, yet somehow, I find myself following him. I don’t even want to imagine how the rest of the day is going to go.
