Jaylene shook her head. “Anyway, just stay away from Kieran, and don’t let them hurt you again.”

Alarieka didn’t want to think too much about Kieran and just nodded casually. “I was always trying to stay away from him.”

The two chatted, and the whole morning quietly slipped by. Alarieka leaned against the tree trunk with her eyes closed, arms crossed, and was still very patient.

“Was it you guys looking for me?”

A mature woman’s voice came from behind. Alarieka immediately opened her eyes, slapped the already sound-asleep Jaylene, stood up, straightened her clothes, cleared her throat a few times, ran her fingers through her hair, and then turned around.

The woman in front of me wore plain, simple casual clothes. Her clothes just had some dirt on them. She was wearing tall rubber boots, a simple sun hat, and was holding a dirt-stained bucket and a hoe. It was clear she had just come from the fields.

Even though she dressed like that, there was a calm and indifferent look between her simple, pretty brows, and even more, it was a kind of scrutiny and gaze that Alarieka didn’t mind at all. She had a smile on her lips and a quiet, gentle vibe. Alarieka unconsciously straightened up under the woman’s gaze. “Hello, I’m Alarieka Huston!”

Jaylene also said seriously, “Hello, I’m Jaylene Irwin.”

“Paloma Wyatt.”

She quickly gave her name and nodded at the two of them. “I heard early this morning that two people had been waiting at my door. I’ve never seen you before. So, what’s up?”

A sudden wave of uneasiness came over Alarieka. She pressed her lips together. “There was something I needed your help with.”

Paloma turned around, put down the bucket, took out a bunch of keys from her body, and quickly unlocked the front door. After she pushed the door open, the door frame creaked.

Paloma’s tone got colder. “I never met you guys before, and you asked me for help as soon as we met. Isn’t that a bit rude?”

Alarieka also felt embarrassed, grabbing the hem of her clothes and lowering her head. “I know it’s really rude, but I had no other way. I could only beg you. If you agree, just take it as I owe you a favor. After that, whatever you want me to do, I will…”

“All?”

Paloma, though she looked pretty and had a gentle vibe, spoke in a firm and sharp way that even Alarieka found hard to handle.

“Not to mention what a student like you could even help me with, but your favor? Is it even worth owing?”

After pushing the door open, Paloma turned around, smiled gently, and said sharply, “What you’ve said so far hasn’t moved me yet!”

“Sorry, please go back.”

Alarieka knew she really couldn’t give Paloma much, but she just didn’t want to give up so easily because of a few words from Paloma.

“Ms. Wyatt.”

“Ms. Wyatt.”

Alarieka’s voice got mixed with another sweet voice.

Several people turned to look at the same time.

It was actually Natalie. Natalie’s bright smile got even brighter and bigger when she saw Alarieka and Jaylene. She walked up with a gift box in her hand and naturally took the bucket from Paloma.

“Ms. Wyatt, let me take it, let me take it, don’t tire yourself out.”

There was more warmth and closeness in Paloma’s smile, and she looked at Natalie with smiling eyes.

“How could it be tiring? You didn’t need to worry, just give it to me, I could carry it, how could I let you, a guest, carry it.”

Paloma actually knew Natalie, and they were pretty close. They seemed to get along really well.

Paloma looked back at them when she walked into the yard, and the smile on her face faded a lot.

“You two go back, I won’t have you over.”

Alarieka eagerly took a step forward. “Ms. Wyatt, I…”

Natalie suddenly turned around and cut her off. “Ms. Wyatt, half of the gift boxes I brought today were from Rose for you. They’re all ginseng supplements and stuff, really good for making soup. Remember to use them.”

Paloma didn’t look at them again, followed behind Natalie, watched as Natalie opened the door herself, and said:

“How come you remembered to come to me today?”

“Just came whenever I wanted.”

“Why didn’t Rose come? Haven’t seen her for a while.”
