Chapter 194
Alarieka raised her hand to touch her stinging cheek, swallowed the metallic taste rising in her throat, and forced down the dizziness in her head.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm hard.
Patrickโs voice exploded by her ear: โCome on, go to the police station with me!โ
Alarieka really didnโt have the strength to fight back, and was actually hoping the police investigation would clear her name, so she didnโt resist Patrickโs rough pulling and just got yanked up by him.
The moment Patrick grabbed Alariekaโs arm, he suddenly felt a faint hesitation in his heart.
A thought flashed through his mind. Alarieka was so skinny, like she was malnourished. The flesh on her arms was almost nothing, even thinner than Roschelle, who was always slim and frail.
And Alariekaโs body was all soft, with no resistance, and he just pulled her up.
Looking at Alarieka, who looked so weak, made Patrick frown even more. He impatiently yanked Alarieka over and said coldly, โAlarieka, what are you pretending for? You already did this kind of thing, so acting pitiful now is useless.โ
Alarieka was yanked by Patrick and stumbled. Her hair swung in the air, and through the strands, she saw Kieranโs legs. Alariekaโs head spun, her eyelids weakly fighting to stay open, and she didnโt have the strength to lift her head to see Kieranโs expression.
She could only hear Kieranโs voice coming through, sometimes clear, sometimes fuzzy.
โLet the police handle itโฆ Donโt use your handsโฆโ
Kieranโs voice was actually really nice. Quite a few friends said that if he lost his job, he could be a voice actor, and heโd definitely get a bunch of fans just for his voice.
But Patrick listened and was just left with a bunch of frustration. If Kieran could handle Alarieka, how would Rose have been treated like this? All in all, Kieran wasnโt innocent.
He impatiently cut Kieran off: โI know what to do, I donโt need you to teach me.โ He glanced at Roschelle, stayed silent for a moment, then said quietly, โRight now, Rose needs you more. You go with Rose to the hospital, Iโll take Alarieka to the police station.โ
As he spoke, he gave Kieran a warning look: โYouโd better take care of Rose, or I wonโt let you off.โ
Kieran said, โOkay.โ
He had just finished talking with Kieran when he finally noticed that something seemed off with the woman he was holding.
Alarieka seemed to have no strength at all; her whole body was limp. She didnโt even lift her head and just kept falling down. He couldnโt hold her up with one hand. Patrick just felt like Alarieka was up to something again, trying to get his sympathy.
He frowned and sneered, โAlarieka, got scared just hearing about the police station? Donโt pretend to be pitiful. Iโll definitely take you to the police station.โ
As he spoke, Patrick impatiently tugged Alariekaโs arm again, โStand still, I donโt want to hold you.โ As he spoke, he was about to let go.
In front of him, Alariekaโs body went limp and fell to the ground. Alariekaโs black hair covered her face, and she just lay there without moving.
Both menโs eyebrows twitched.
Patrick stood still and didnโt move, gritting his teeth and saying impatiently, โAlarieka, thereโs got to be a limit to playing the victim. I stopped pretending to faint with such lame tricks back in middle school.โ
Alarieka didnโt respond.
There was a flash of panic in Patrickโs eyes, and he raised his voice, โAlarieka, I told you, donโt play dead with me!โ
Alarieka lay calmly on the ground, still didnโt respond.
There was a ripple in the darkness of Kieranโs eyes. Patrick looked at Kieran for a few seconds, walked over, lifted his foot, and tapped Alariekaโs calf with his toe: โAlarieka, what are you pretending for?โ
Alarieka still didnโt respond.
Kieran said, โSomethingโs off.โ
Kieran walked up, put his hand on Alariekaโs shoulder, and lifted Alariekaโs upper body. The soaked hair finally fell down, showing Alariekaโs pale, bloodless face, and the very obvious slap mark on her pale cheek.
Alarieka kept her eyes shut tight, like she was already completely silent.
Kieranโs brows twitched a little. He shook Alariekaโs upper body and said in a low voice, โAlarieka.โ
Alariekaโs body moved with his actions, her hands hung limply at her sides, and her head even drooped off to the side because of the movement, hanging there weakly, not moving at all.
Patrick stared with his eyes slightly wide. โHow did this happen? Rose didnโt faint, so how did she faint first?โ
Kieran lowered his eyelids and looked at Alarieka without much emotion in his eyes. His voice was low and hoarse as he said, โSheโs afraid of water, she canโt swim.โ
