Chapter 329
Absolutely because of Roschelle.
Perhaps Kieran realized it too.
She watched the phone in his hand. Roschelleโs voice kept spilling through as Kieran patiently comforted her.
Slowly, defiance and mischief sparked in Alariekaโs eyes.
Deliberately leaning toward the phone, she pitched her voice high and shrill: โKier, when are you taking me back? Iโm getting impatient.โ
Instantly, Roschelleโs voice cut off. Kieran frowned at her.
Alarieka raised a challenging brow at him, a sardonic smile playing on her lips.
Kieranโs gaze darkened, sharpening like blades.
On the line, Roschelleโs voice turned shrill: โKieran? Is Alarieka with you?โ
โYou went to her?โ
Abruptly, she paused, seeming to check herself. Her tone instantly softened, pitiful: โKieranโฆ youโd rather be with her than see me?โ
โThe baby and Iโฆ weโre both so miserableโฆโ
Kieran fixed Alarieka with an icy stare, yet his voice gentled as he coaxed Roschelle: โIโm coming to you now. If you feel unwell, sit down somewhere. Iโll be there soon.โ
Rose asked cautiously, โKieran, why did you go see Alarieka? Is there something between you?โ
At that moment, Kieranโs armโrigid as stone moments beforeโsuddenly went slack. Alarieka gave a light push, and his arm slid from her waist.
Kieran narrowed his eyes, rubbing his temples with fingertips. โJust ran into her. Donโt overthink it.โ
Roseโs voice trembled. โButโฆ she sounded so close to youโฆโ
Alarieka stood two meters away, watching Kieran with icy detachment.
Kieran ignored Roseโs question. โFind somewhere to wait, or rest in my office. Iโll take you to the hospital later.โ
Rose murmured, โAlrightโฆ but hurryโฆโ
Suddenly, before hanging up, her voice sharpened with emphasis: โKieran, I only want to see you come alone. Okay?โ
Alarieka arched an eyebrow. Roseโs implication couldnโt be clearer.
Kieran shot her a glance and agreed swiftly. โFine.โ
After hanging up, Alarieka clapped sharply, the sound crisp. โMr. Argent and your fiancee are so devoted. Canโt wait for your engagement.โ
Kieran pocketed his phone, voice low with warning. โIโll have the school notified. Dropping out? Forget it.โ
Alarieka smiled faintly. โSure. Whatever you say if you can pull it off.โ
โDonโt try anything. Iโll fetch you tomorrow. Guards will watch this place tonight.โ
With Rose urging him, Kieran threw down these words and strode away.
Alarieka watched his retreating back, eyes dimming. She turned, braced against the wall, and stumbled into the room.
Tamika rushed to support her, voice thick with concern. โAlarieka, we must leave now. Who knows what Kieran will do to you next?โ
Alarieka froze slightly. Sheโd considered fleeing when Kieran arrivedโbut hadnโt expected Tamika to share the thought.
She gave a soft nod. โTomorrow. Weโll pack tonight. Iโll book a morning flight.โ
Tamika nodded urgently. โSit. Iโll finish packing now.โ
Alarieka paused. โBut thereโs one last thing.โ
Tamika frowned. โWhat else?โ
Alarieka pressed her lips. โI need to go out. Be back soon.โ
Tamika hesitated. โWant company?โ
Alarieka shook her head. โIโll go alone.โ
Though puzzled, Tamika didnโt object. โโฆAlright. But hurry. Itโs late.โ
Alarieka planned to leave with Jaylene and her grandmother. She texted Jaylene: โLeaving tomorrow morning.โ
Jaylene replied instantly. โReady. Can go anytime.โ
Everything was setโexcept for Kieran.
Alarieka stared at a new text on her phone, pupils flickering.
Half an hour later, she sat inside the restaurantโs highly private VIP Lounge, watching the server push the door open as the manager respectfully assisted Mr. Argent inside.
She remained seated, calmly and quietly observing Mr. Argent take the position across from her.
Before coming, Alarieka Huston had already explained everything to Wallace Argent, so there was no need to repeat it.
She got straight to the point: โWallace, what do you think?โ
