Chapter 336
Wallace Argent uttered a location in a low voice, then added: โGo there. Itโll be too late otherwise.โ
Kieran got the address and immediately turned to leave.
Wallaceโs clouded eyes remained fixed on Kieranโs retreating figure. He gave a slight nod.
Good.
Though Kieran clearly cared about Alariekaโs departure and whereabouts, he hadnโt lost his composure. Despite Kieranโs uncharacteristic rage, heโd remained relatively calm.
Evidently, Alarieka didnโt matter much to Kieran after all. He recalled when Rose had posted online about her depressive tendenciesโKieranโs face had instantly darkened, his expression turning thunderous, like storm clouds looming over a city.
Back then, Kieran and Wallace had been hosting longtime family friends at the Argentโs villa. Mid-dinner, Kieran had grabbed his coat and bolted out, announcing heโd find Rose, disregarding their guests. Though rude and impulsive that time, it was understandable since Rose was his rightful fiancรฉe carrying the Argent heir.
Ultimately, compared to Alarieka, Kieran valued Rose more for her usefulness to his future. Their mutual affection was a favorable outcome.
The butler approached slowly from behind, hunched over, murmuring: โSir, is it wise to let Mr. Argent find Ms. Huston? What if he actually brings her back?โ
A cold glint flashed through Wallaceโs milky eyes. After a pensive pause, he sneered: โIf Alarieka dares renege and return, sheโll face the consequences.โ
This was their agreement: heโd facilitate her departure, sheโd cease clinging to Kieran. Heโd upheld his end, but if she broke their pact, heโd show no mercy.
Alarieka should wisely stay away forever. The Argent family had treated her generously over the yearsโshe ought to show gratitude and stop chasing what wasnโt hers.
Tugging his coat collar, Wallace sighed: โWeโre old men now, no match for the young. Letโs rest. Weโll know the outcome by morning.โ
The butler bowed, acknowledged softly, and supported Wallace inside.
Two hours later, Alarieka landed in a small city. As planned with Wallace, sheโd transfer here to obscure her trailโfirst taking a cab to another airport, flying to a city near the capital, then cabbing to the capital itself. The entire journey would take about ten hours.
Although the journey was exhausting and troublesome, it was better than being found by Kieran Argent.
As soon as they landed, Alarieka Huston immediately hailed a taxi to another airport.
With about an hour until her flight, Alarieka settled their luggage and grabbed some food with Jaylene Irwin quickly. Since Jayleneโs grandmother wasnโt feeling well, Jaylene had brought a portable recliner. She unfolded it in a spacious area and carefully helped her grandmother lie down.
Alarieka, Jaylene, and Tamika Coldberg rested on airport chairs nearby.
After getting settled, Jaylene rubbed her sore shoulders and arms from carrying luggage, scanned the airport, and whispered to Alarieka: โGotta admit, this is pretty thrilling.โ
The predawn airport was sparsely populated. In the emptiness, Alarieka could only hear scattered murmurs. She checked the timeโstill thirty minutes until boarding.
She said, โKieranโs clever and resourceful. This was our only option.โ
Jaylene massaged her shoulders while warily scanning their surroundings: โDo you think he could track us here?โ
After leaving their rental apartment, they hadnโt headed straight to the airport. Theyโd switched vehicles multiple times, taking convoluted routes before arriving. If Kieran still found them after all these detours, it would be hopeless.
Alarieka murmured vaguely, โProbably.โ
Old Mr. Wallace Argent had arranged their entire escape route. His people had orchestrated every diversion and cover-up. With his involvement, Kieran shouldnโt locate them quickly.
Alarieka trusted Wallace Argentโs capabilities but doubted heโd honor their agreement. Kieran was his favorite grandsonโWallace granted his every wish.
What if Kieran demanded her whereabouts?
