Chapter 339
Tamika Coldberg and Jaylene Irwin joined the shouting, their words harsher, more vicious than Alariekaโs.
Even Lorelai Cowan, ever gentle, urged: โSon, let her go. Donโt do this.โ
Yet Kieran remained shamelessly restrained, unresponsive.
Tears stung Alariekaโs eyes. Why wouldnโt he let her leave? Why?
Gritting her teeth, she hissed: โKieran, release me.โ
He suddenly lowered his head, cold, piercing eyes locking onto hers: โFinished hitting?โ
She glared. โWhat do you want?โ
Ignoring her, he grabbed her wrist, tone flat: โThen come back with me.โ
Alarieka stood rooted, voice low: โI donโt understand. Why canโt I just leave?โ
Kieran halted, silent for a long moment. His detached gaze treated her like a stranger, insignificant.
Alariekaโs eyes flickered: โKieran, does Roschelle know you came for me?โ
Jaylene stepped forward, expression grim: โStop wasting words. If he wonโt release you, weโll call the police.โ
As she spoke, three black-suited bodyguards behind Kieran advanced, glowering at Jaylene.
Jaylene clenched her fists: โWhat? Playing gangster now?โ
Alarieka glanced at the bodyguards, then looked away, trying to convince Kieran: โKieran, Iโm not important to you. Me leaving has nothing to do with you or the Argent family, and it wonโt affect your business empire. If I stay, itโll just cause more chaos. If I go, we can both have peace. Why wonโt you let me? Why wonโt you let me leave?โ
Kieran suddenly scoffed, his eyes icy cold, voice low and detached. โYou havenโt deleted that post yet. I canโt let you go.โ
So it was about that online post sheโd made. No wonder.
A flicker of irony shone in Alariekaโs eyes. Sheโd actually thought she mattered enough for Kieran to go through all this trouble to catch her. Turns out it was still about Roschelle Whitaker. Still about protecting his precious Rose.
Alarieka lifted her eyelids coolly, her tone dripping with sarcasm. โSo Mr. Argent understands how damaging such posts can be for the people involved? Funny, when Roschelle posted about me, I didnโt see Mr. Argent demanding justice for me. Or is it that Mr. Argent favors Roschelle so much, he turns a blind eye to the suffering of people like us?โ
Kieran watched her with dark, intense eyes. โWhat suffering?โ he asked abruptly.
He seemed determined to dig to the bottom of this, pressing her with a second question: โWhat are you suffering from?โ
Alarieka found it laughable.
She thought Kieran was playing dumb, feigning ignorance to cover his tracks. There was no point explaining, no need for him to know the thorn lodged in her heart.
Her voice turned frosty. โYouโre wasting your effort, Mr. Argent. Instead of forcing me to delete the post, youโd get faster results contacting the platform developers directly to have their staff remove it from the backend.โ
After hearing her out, Kieran said, โFinished? Then go back.โ
Deaf to reason.
Alarieka nearly hurled her duffel bag at his face.
Weariness etched her features. โI told you, I wonโt delete the post, and I wonโt go back with you.โ
Kieran gave a curt nod. โFine.โ
With that, he actually released her arm.
Alarieka was momentarily stunned, thinking heโd finally come to his senses and was letting her go.
But the next second, Kieran flicked a glance backward.
The four bodyguards nodded and immediately stepped forward, advancing toward her with heavy strides, their eyes locked on her.
Alarieka took a step back. โWhat are you doing?โ
Under the airport lights, Kieranโs sharp, angular face looked even more detached, his voice cold. โSince you wonโt walk, theyโll carry you back.โ
Alarm bells screamed in Alariekaโs mind. She stumbled backward several paces.
The four bodyguards, faces stern, closed in with large strides.
