Listen to this chapter:

Alaricka had no intention of helping him. He'd violently rejected her touch earlier, slamming her arm against the wall. Her elbow throbbed painfully; she hadn't checked, but knew it must be bruised.

But the driver needed to pick up his next passenger.

With reluctant grace, Alarieka walked over, gripping the manโ€™s arms firmly.

โ€œGet up, young master.โ€

The instant her hands touched him, his ragged breathing grew harsh. His eyes locked onto hers, predatory, as if he might lunge and sink his teeth into her slender neck.

Suddenly, the arm beneath her hands felt scalding hot. She clenched her jaw, resisting the urge to shove him away.

Her voice turned icy. โ€œStop rutting here. Move. See a doctor.โ€

She yanked harder, nearly pulling his upper body sideways.

The man shut his eyes, lips pressed tight as he endured for a moment. Then, bracing himself, he slowly followed her pull out of the car.

The moment his feet touched the ground, Alarieka gritted her teeth.

The damn man dumped his entire weight onto her. He felt like a burning hot water bottle against her skin.

How heavy was he? Straining, she barely kept them both upright.

โ€œStand properly! I canโ€™t hold you!โ€

As Alaricka snapped, she felt his head suddenly press against her neck. His burning forehead glued to her skin, scorching breath washing over it. Suppressed moans escaped his thin lips, as if heโ€™d lost all control. His arms grew restless, reaching for her. A large hand gripped her waist as his whole body pressed closer.

Alarieka ground her teeth, shoving his hand away. โ€œStop this madness! Look where we are!โ€

The man panted heavily: โ€œSo uncomfortableโ€ฆ I feel awfulโ€ฆโ€

Alarieka knew the medicine was taking effect. If she didnโ€™t get him inside soon, heโ€™d lose control right at the hospital entrance.

She pinched his arm, dragging him forward: โ€œMove! Now! Donโ€™t embarrass us here.โ€

He stumbled along with her pull.

Just as Alarieka thought he was cooperating, his head resting on her shoulder turned. Hot lips brushed against her delicate neck, breath steaming her skin.

Alarieka froze. She yanked his hair back.

โ€œStop this.โ€

His eyes fluttered open. Panting, he murmured: โ€œI need youโ€ฆ want youโ€ฆโ€

Alarickaโ€™s face paled then flushed.

His burning hand suddenly cupped her cheek, thumb stroking her face. โ€œSo beautiful,โ€ he mumbled.

Both hands occupied supporting him, she couldnโ€™t block him. By the time she slapped his hand away, his fingers had traced her eyebrows, eyes, and nose bridge.

Alaricka:โ€ฆ

She swore if he werenโ€™t drugged senseless, sheโ€™d kick him straight in the crotch.

No more niceties. She hauled him inside, got him registered, dragged him to the clinic, and dumped him with the doctor.

After everything, Alarieka slumped onto a hospital bench, catching her breath.

She glanced down at the ID card in her handโ€”found in his pocket moments earlier.

Shi Yao.

This man not only has a handsome face but also a very pleasant name.

Alarieka stuffed the ID card into her pocket and looked at the closed ward door.

Except, this manโ€™s mouth is rather unpleasant and rude.

Right now, heโ€™s still asleep in the ward, hooked up to an IV drip.

Doctors and nurses are still inside checking his condition.

Shi Yaoโ€™s clothing doesnโ€™t look expensive, and he rarely goes outโ€”especially that day in the hallway when Alarieka noticed takeout containers and instant noodle cups in the trash bag by his door.

He looks every bit like an unemployed young man.

No job means no money.

So Alarieka arranged a shared ward for him โ€“ medical fees arenโ€™t too steep โ€“ hoping heโ€™d transfer payment when he woke up.
