The surrounding crowd fell silent, retreating several steps from the conflict unfolding at the room’s center.

Alarieka swiftly raised a hand, stopping Shiyao.

Then she said softly, “You should ask your dear brother. He invited me back.”

Clarissa crossed her arms, sneering. “Alarieka, spare us your attempts to stir trouble. Don’t think I don’t know why you’re really here.”

Alarieka’s expression remained unruffled. “Enlighten me?”

Clarissa’s gaze turned mocking. “My brother invited you so you could witness firsthand how deeply in love he is with his wife, how adorable their child is. He wants you to see it and finally give up. Did you really think a few years with the Argents entitled you to become Mrs. Argent?”

“He doesn’t like you. Get it? Stop dreaming.”

Alarieka’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Clarissa laughed sharply. “And I know you came begging my brother for the Black–White Rabbit game rights, didn’t you?”

Her expression twisted with scorn and pity. “Didn’t my brother and his wife tell you? He bought those rights specifically as a gift for his wife–a token of love, understand? He would never sell those rights to anyone else. Especially not to you. Don’t imagine crawling back to the Argent’s villa will soften him up. Let me make this clear: it won’t happen!”
