Chapter 65
She pulled her lips into a smile: โMom, letโs stay away from Kieran and Roschelle from now on.โ
Tamikaโs tears fell instantly: โI thought, I thought even if Kieran didnโt like you, he wouldnโt do this.โ
Alarieka shook her head and forced a smile: โMom, Kieran was just that kind of person.โ
โBut,โ she moved her fork, pretending to be relaxed, โIโm really fine, itโs just some scratches, donโt worry.โ
As they were talking, Alariekaโs phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from Reyna.
โHey, Ms. Wright.โ
Reynaโs voice was hesitant and worried: โAlarieka, the principal just called me and said they canceled the decision to fire me. Did you do something?โ
Alariekaโs eyelashes fluttered.
This was the best news Iโd heard in a while.
Kieran was still kind of a decent person; he didnโt break his promise.
She said softly, โDidnโt do much, just found someone.โ
Reyna didnโt believe it and kept asking, โYou really didnโt do anything?โ
Alarieka grabbed the edge of the table tightly, forcing herself to smile: โNo, Ms. Wright, donโt worry, I was fine.โ
Reyna asked a few more questions, but Alarieka didnโt show even the slightest flaw, all the way until they hung up.
Alarieka put away her phone: โMom, itโs late, go to sleep.โ
Tamika said anxiously, โTake care of your wounds before you sleep; donโt let them get worse.โ
Alarieka was just about to nod when the doorbell at the entrance rang.
She grabbed the blanket around her and told Tamika to get the door.
Alarieka had her back to the door and just heard Tamikaโs voice, surprised and barely hiding her anger: โMr. Argentโs assistant?โ
The assistant said, โMr. Argent told me to bring the medicine. These are all for Ms. Huston.โ
Alarieka sat on the couch and turned her head to look over.
The assistant who came this time wasnโt the one who took her to Spark Club tonight. It was another assistant who just did things by the book. His attitude toward her was so-so.
The assistant handed the medicine bag to Tamika and said calmly, โTake it.โ
Tamika was mad at Kieran and didnโt want to take anything from him, but she also wanted to take it because there werenโt enough medical supplies at home.
Alarieka looked away and said calmly, โMom, bring it here.โ
It wasnโt the time to piss Kieran off.
Kieran could crush her and Reyna with just one finger. If needed, she still had to go along with what Kieran wanted, even if every part of her resisted.
Tamika grabbed the medicine bag angrily and locked the door:
โAlarieka, come on, letโs put on the medicine.โ
Alarieka took the medicine bag and just tossed it aside.
Tamikaโs face changed: โWhatโs wrong?โ
Alarieka held onto the blanket, her voice really low and soft: โI didnโt want to use his stuff.โ
โMom, thereโs a trash can and a pharmacy downstairs. Throw these away, then go to the pharmacy to buy some medicine.โ
At times like this, whatever Alarieka said, went.
Tamika nodded and stood up right away, โOkay, Iโll go throw out Kieranโs stuff.โ
Five minutes later, Tamika carried the medicine bag and, looking disgusted, tossed the bag into the stinky trash can.
Then she stopped by the pharmacy outside the neighborhood and bought a bunch of random medicine before going upstairs.
She didnโt notice at all that the assistant who just brought the medicine hadnโt left but was hiding in the corner, seeing everything.
The assistant hesitated a few times but still called Kieran.
The call got picked up quickly.
The assistant sounded a bit hesitant: โMr. Argent, I saw Ms. Hustonโs mother throw away all the medicine bags, and she went to the pharmacy to buy medicine herself.โ
Kieran was quiet for a moment, and when he spoke, his voice was even lower: โGot it. Did you see what kind of medicine was bought this time?โ
The assistant said, โI checked, itโs all some medicine for bruises and sprains, probably nothing wrong.โ
Kieran said, โOkay, got it.โ
The assistant hesitated and said, โDonโt we need to tell Ms. Huston the truth?โ
About what happened at Spark Club, it was Kieran who messed with Antoineโs company; thatโs why Antoine left at that time.
It was just that Alarieka didnโt know about this.
Kieran answered simply, โNo need.โ
The assistant wiped the sweat from his forehead and replied in a low voice, โOkay, got it.โ
After speaking, the assistant habitually waited a bit, waiting for Kieran to hang up first.
But after almost half a minute, Kieran still hadnโt hung up the phone.
He braced himself and said, โMr. Argent, any other questions?โ
Kieran was silent for a while, his voice low: โForget it, Iโll come take a look now.โ
