Chapter 83
The fourth cupโฆ Last was the sixth cup. Alaricka really couldnโt drink anymore; her stomach was burning and hurting like crazy, like someone was poking her stomach with a needle over and over. The pain was so bad she couldnโt stand it. She curled up on the ground, struggling to reach for the third glass, when Kieranโs cold voice drifted over. She kept coughing, almost like she was going to cough her lungs out. My face turned red from coughing, my eyes could barely open, and I kept feeling like my throat had been burned by a hot stick.
โSince you couldnโt drink, why did you come here?โ
Alarieka gave a sarcastic smirk. Kieran really was this heartless. He was only this harsh to her. Alarieka grabbed the seventh glass of wine without hesitation and drank it down. The sudden loud and chaotic noise outside. Then there was the sound of the door being kicked open from outside, and these noises kept hitting Alariekaโs eardrums. Her ears were full of buzzing, and she tilted her head back, opened her mouth, and took the drink.
โWhat are you still drinking for?!โ
As someone shouted loudly, the wine glass in her hand got slapped to the floor. The glass shattered all over the ground, and the wine spread across the carpet. She vaguely looked up. It was Jaylene. She didnโt know when she got here, but she barged into this nightclub with a whole bunch of her brothers and sisters, all of them carrying sticks or knives, some big, some small. Even the bodyguards behind the assistant were scared. Jaylene grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.
โDonโt just stand there, hurry up.โ
Alarieka was pulled up by Jaylene, pushed through the crowd, and ran straight out of the club. Behind me, there were cheers from the people Jaylene brought, and a lot of cursing and exclamations from others. The cold night wind blew past Alariekaโs ears, and her whole body felt colder. Because she was running, her stomach churned even more. She struggled against Jayleneโs hand on her wrist, squatted by the trash can, and threw up a bunch of stuff from her stomach. Alarieka threw up so hard, she almost puked her stomach out. Jaylene suddenly rushed forward: โWhy is there blood?โ
โYou had a stomach bleed?โ
Alaricka shook her head tiredly, โI donโt know.โ
Jaylene grabbed her hand: โCome on, Iโll take you to the hospital.โ
Alarieka was yanked up so hard that everything went white and she blacked out.
When I woke up again, Alarieka was already in the hospital. Jayleneโs voice sounded softly: โAwake?โ
โWake up and go pay the money, I didnโt have money to pay for you.โ
Alarieka blinked, pulled at the corner of her mouth, and said in a hoarse voice, โIโll pay.โ She struggled to sit up, and Jaylene immediately stood up to help her.
โSlow down, slow down, your hand is still on an IV.โ
Alarieka leaned against the headboard, her voice still weak: โThank you.โ
Jaylene still had the swelling on her face from when Calvin hit her last night. She looked away awkwardly and said, โI should be the one thanking you.โ
Alarieka remembered what happened in the private room, and her eyes darkened.
โYou shouldnโt have kept working part-time at that store after that; itโs not safe.โ
Jaylene waved her hand. โYou donโt have to tell me, I know myself. I just ran out of there, how could I possibly go back?โ
Alaricka nodded. โThatโs good.โ
Jaylene seemed to think of something and looked a bit embarrassed. โAlarieka, I wanted to ask you something.โ Unexpectedly, Alaricka saw a conflicted look on Jayleneโs face. She couldnโt help but say seriously, โYou ask.โ
Jayleneโs eyes lit up, and she suddenly leaned in, like a spy sharing secrets. โWhat was your relationship with Kieran?โ
Alarieka didnโt expect Jaylene to ask this kind of question, and her eyes paused. In that moment, alarm bells went off in her head, and she didnโt even have time to curse Kieran for what he did last night. She forced herself to stay calm and said, โWhatโs wrong? Why are you asking this?โ
Jaylene looked conflicted: โThe main thing is, I heard some stuff, and I was really curious.โ
Alariekaโs fingers moved a little. โThere was nothing between me and him, you didnโt have to listen to what others said.โ
Jaylene looked at her suspiciously, โThe main thing is, people say Kieran had a really good character, but last night Kieranโs behavior really didnโt seem like someone with good character.โ
At that moment, Alarieka suddenly understood. She kept nodding, โYeah, Kieranโs character really wasnโt good.โ
Jaylene nodded in agreement, โYeah, I thought he would save us when he came, but I didnโt expect him to do something like that.โ
