Listen to this chapter:

โ€œAnd you already got what you wanted. Kier and Rose were supposed to announce their engagement tonight, but you ruined it. Now they can only get engaged later without making an announcement.โ€

โ€œAlarieka, were you satisfied?โ€

Alarieka sneered, โ€œNot even gonna check, just decide Iโ€™m guilty. Is that how you Argent family do things?โ€

Marlene gave a fake laugh, โ€œSo what if I did? Or are you saying you could fight back?โ€

โ€œYou should have thanked Kier for rushing over to save Rose so quickly, and you should have prayed that the baby in Roseโ€™s belly was okay. If anything happened to the baby, you shouldnโ€™t have expected to get back in one piece either.โ€

Alarieka looked at Kieran.

Kieran looked serious, his dark eyes full of heavy emotion, and there was no warmth in the way he looked at her.

She opened her mouth, wanted to say something, but all that was left was a sarcastic low laugh, and a dull pain deep in her heart that she couldnโ€™t put into words.

Did Kieran really love Roschelle so much that he lost his mind and stopped being his usual persistent self?

Having lived again, she thought she could stay indifferent, that she could not care.

But when she actually faced it, she still felt cold and bitter inside, and her whole body was forced to the point of weakness.

There was a bit of a choke in her voice she couldnโ€™t hide: โ€œKieran, you canโ€™t do this.โ€

Kieranโ€™s face didnโ€™t soften because of the catch in her voice or the tears in her eyes. Instead, he looked even more grim.

โ€œAlarieka, take care of yourself.โ€

After saying that, Kieran turned around and pushed the door open, and Marlene and Rolando followed him into Roschelleโ€™s hospital room.

Outside the ward, Alarieka was still held down by the shoulders and forced to kneel facing the ward door.

The two servants by her side didnโ€™t show any mercy; they held her hands down with all their strength, and her knees had been kneeling for so long that she couldnโ€™t even feel them anymore.

There were a lot of people coming and going in the hospital hallway, looking at her with suspicion and uncertainty, whispering about something.

She didnโ€™t know how much time had passed, maybe two hours, maybe three; then Roschelle woke up.

But Alarieka had already been exhausted from kneeling on the ground for so long. Both her legs and her body were worn out, and her usually pretty face had lost all its color. There were even obvious blood streaks in the whites of her eyes.

The door of the ward was finally pushed open again, and it was Kieran who came out.

Alarieka opened her eyes in a daze and said coldly, โ€œHas she finally woken up?โ€

Kieran looked at her pale face, his eyes paused, then he lifted his chin and told the two servants to let her go.

The moment they let go, Alarieka went limp all over and almost fell to the ground right away.

Luckily, Alarieka quickly put her hand on the ground, so she didnโ€™t fall over.

In the corner of her eye, she seemed to see Kieran move his feet and slightly raise his hand, like he wanted to come over and help.

But then he quickly took it back and went back to looking cold.

Alarieka thought it was fine like that. She really didnโ€™t want Kieran to touch her again.

She had been kneeling for so long, her legs were almost numb.

Alarieka had to lean against the wall just to barely stand up, stumbling along the way and almost falling down a few more times.

Kieran and the two servants didnโ€™t react at all, just watched coldly as she struggled to get up from the ground.

After she finally managed to stand up, there was a fine layer of sweat on Alariekaโ€™s back.

Her palm was pressed against the wall just to stand up straight, and her clear eyes looked up at Kieran: โ€œSo, can I go now?โ€

Kieran looked at her for a few seconds and didnโ€™t say anything.

Instead, he turned to the side, pushed the door open, and held out his hand through the crack.

A slender, fair hand reached out from the crack in the door and rested on Kieranโ€™s hand, and the door slowly opened.

Roschelle was helped out by Marlene, then Marlene handed her over to Kieran: โ€œSlow down, slow down, she still has wounds, donโ€™t touch them.โ€

Roschelle smiled with her lips pressed together, โ€œItโ€™s okay, Mrs. Argent, just a little scratch.โ€

Marleneโ€™s eyes were full of concern for Roschelle: โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you just stay in the hospital for observation? Why did you have to come home?โ€
