Garland and Liza were dragged to the guest rooms on the third floor. “Give me a minute. Your rooms will be ready soon,” Erica said cheerfully, rushing to arrange things.
Liza, dressed in her pajamas, glanced at Garland. “Are they holding us hostage here?”
“I’m not sure,” Garland replied, glancing at Erica and Randy, who were enthusiastically directing the maids to clean up the rooms. “Probably not. They seem pretty friendly.”
Downstairs, Debra asked Marion, “Do you think the Eaton family is connected to K?”
“I’m not sure about the Eaton family,” he replied, handing her a peeled orange slice. “But Garland and Liza? Definitely not.”
Debra took the orange and popped it into her mouth. “I don’t know. It just feels strange that they came to Seamar City at a time like this. Garland, in particular, is acting like a different person from before.”
“Don’t worry too much,” Marion reassured her. “Now that they’re here, Randy and Erica will keep tabs on them. Their every move will be under our watch.”
“Let’s hope so,” Debra sighed.
Juan arrived at the Eaton family’s villa in Seamar City and called Garland, who answered quickly. Before Juan could say anything, Garland started with a raised voice, “Ah, yeah, it’s me. I’ve been invited to stay at the Potter Mansion. Uh-huh, I might not be back anytime soon. If you need me, maybe another day. I’ll call you when I have time.”
He glanced around and added, “I’ve got stuff going on here, so I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”
The busy tone from the phone made Juan frown. He wondered why Debra and Marion invited Garland to the Potter Mansion.
Just then, a few cars pulled up outside the villa. Joe stepped out and hurried toward Juan. “Sir, we’ve finally found you.”
Juan responded indifferently, “Didn’t I already fire you?”
Lowering his head, Joe said, “Mrs. Nichols Sr. instructed me to find you and take you back to oversee things.”
Juan hadn’t been to the office for a while. While things were running through online meetings, it left room for mishaps.
“Is the company running smoothly?”
“Yes, but…”
