Chapter 1006
At the Potter Mansion, Debra watched the news coverage of Sheilaโs funeral on TV. She glanced at Andrew and said, โCome on. Is this really necessary?โ The volume was so loud it seemed like he had cranked it up just for her. She didnโt know before that Andrew was so into gossip.
โSorry, I just turned it on randomly,โ Andrew replied, deliberately turning the volume further up. The corner of Debraโs lips twitched. โIs there something you want to say?โ
โStrangely, Juan is not at the funeral,โ he replied, rewinding the footage a few times. Melody and others were present, but Juan was nowhere to be seen.
Andrew added, โHis wifeโs dead, and he doesnโt even show up. Could the rumors be true? Did he kill her?โ
โWhat are you talking about?โ Debra was puzzled.
Andrew turned to her and said, โYou havenโt heard? Maybe I shouldnโt say more.โ
Debra didnโt buy his act. โDidnโt you say that just for me to hear? Why donโt you go ahead and tell me what is going on?โ
Andrew leaned back and explained, โWhen Sheilaโs body was found, there was evidence her skull had been pierced by a bullet. Although the rest of her was burned, the cause of death was clear. Think about it. Who could freely enter the Nichols Mansion with a gun? Isnโt Juan the most obvious suspect?โ
โJuan would never kill Sheila. Thatโs absurd,โ Debra said firmly, refusing to believe it.
In her mind, whether it was in their previous life or this one, Juan was not someone who enjoyed violence or bloodshed. In her past life, Juan didnโt kill Sheila despite his hatred toward her. He had no reason to kill Sheila and burn down his house in this life.
โI donโt know the specifics,โ Andrew said. โBut if this news gets out, the Nichols family will face attacks from all sides, and Juan will be in serious trouble.โ
โIโve already cut ties with Juan,โ Debra said, brushing it off. โWhatever happens to the Nichols family has nothing to do with me.โ
โBut I heard that Juan promised to hand over the Nichols Group to you in three months. Are you still planning to take it?โ Andrew asked.
โWeโve signed the contract. Of course, Iโll take it,โ Debra replied, sitting down on the sofa.
Andrew smirked and said, โJuan may have promised to hand the company over, but he hasnโt held a shareholdersโ meeting yet. The shareholders might not agree to let him step down. However, if heโs accused of murdering Sheila, heโll have no choice but to resign. Then taking over the Nichols Group would be a seamless process for you.โ
Debra looked up and said dryly, โYouโve certainly thought this through.โ
โItโs nothing,โ he replied.
Debra narrowed her eyes. โBut how did you find out about Juanโs promise to me? I donโt recall telling you.โ
โI have eyes and ears,โ Andrew said with a faint smile.
