Chapter 1023

Debra was too smart to fool.

Marion sighed, โ€œCan I lie?โ€

โ€œNo, you canโ€™t,โ€ Debra replied firmly.

Marion pulled out his phone and showed her the call log. At the top of the list was a call from an unknown number from last night. But to Debra, that number was all too familiar. โ€œJuan self-directed that show?โ€

Barton stepped into Andrewโ€™s room, clearly troubled. โ€œSir, you have to step in and do something.โ€

โ€œHe told her himself,โ€ Andrew replied blandly. โ€œI didnโ€™t force him.โ€

โ€œBut Mr. Houston is going to destroy everything in the house.โ€

Andrew rubbed his temples, regretting bringing these people to his house.

โ€œTake me to him.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Barton wheeled Andrew to the hallway, and they saw Marion sitting in the living room. Darts were thrown at a glass vase worth five figures. A second later, the vase shattered into pieces. As Marion went to pick up a knife from the table, Barton rushed up to stop him. โ€œMr. Houston, you canโ€™t throw that.โ€

โ€œWho said I was going to throw it?โ€ Marion casually picked up an apple and began peeling it with the knife.

Barton glanced at the living room, now a chaotic mess. The maids were frantically cleaning up.

โ€œIf you want to break things, do it at your own house. Stop wrecking mine,โ€ Andrew said, noting Marionโ€™s bad mood. โ€œYou told her yourself. Canโ€™t blame others.โ€

The apple peel in Marionโ€™s hand snapped. He shot Andrew a cold glare. โ€œI wanted to lie but didnโ€™t dare.โ€

โ€œWhere is Debra?โ€ Andrew asked. โ€œOh, thatโ€™s right. She mustโ€™ve gone to find Juan. Otherwise, you wouldnโ€™t be here tearing apart my house.โ€

Marion abruptly drove the knife into the apple. The blade struck with such force that it penetrated not only the apple but also the platter beneath it.

โ€œMy bad,โ€ he said. โ€œI slipped.โ€

He got up and stormed upstairs. That was indeed a slip. Heโ€™d been itching to send that knife straight into Andrewโ€™s smug mouth.

Barton inspected the platter and table. The knife had pierced halfway into the wood beneath the glass.

โ€œSir, the tableโ€™s ruined.โ€

โ€œPut it on the tab. Debra will pay for it.โ€

โ€œSir, what if she finds Juan?โ€

โ€œShe wonโ€™t.โ€

Juan wouldnโ€™t show up to meet Debra. That was why he hadnโ€™t bothered stopping Marion from spilling the beans. This whole scheme wasnโ€™t meant to deceive Debra but to shape public opinion. The narrative was already set. Whether Debra knew the truth or not didnโ€™t matter. Enough people had seen Juan attacking her with a knife. Marion had been injured during the process and sent to the hospital. By the time the date on the contract was due, Juan would no longer be fit to remain the CEO of the Nichols Group.
