Chapter 1034
Barton bolted downstairs. Debra walked into the room and saw a team of doctors crowded around Andrewโs bed, trying to resuscitate him. Andrewโs consciousness seemed hazy. Debraโs gaze fell on a pill in one doctorโs hand. The group was urgently discussing something.
She stepped forward and asked, โWhatโs that pill? You said it could save him. So, why arenโt you using it?โ
The doctors exchanged glances but stayed silent. Just then, Barton returned, pulling William into the room.
โThat pill works, but Mr. Andrew Potter refuses to take it.โ
โWhy not? Does it have side effects?โ
โNo.โ
โIs it not for his disease?โ
โYes.โ
โThen why isnโt he taking it?โ
Debra sighed, moving to push the pill into Andrewโs mouth. Andrewโs eyes suddenly fluttered open. Despite his weakened state, he managed to catch her wrist. His voice was barely audible as he whispered, โDebra, put it down.โ
Debra froze, leaning closer to him. โWhat?โ
โPut it down.โ His eyes had regained their clarity, and his tone became calm.
Thinking the pill was precious, Debra carefully placed it on the bedside table.
โSorry for my discretion.โ
โLeave. I need to rest.โ
Debra stood up, glancing back at Andrew, who had closed his eyes again. She wondered if that had been a hallucination, but she seemed to have heard him say something else. She waited outside until, a while later, William and the other doctors came out.
William gaped at her. โMrs. Houston, youโre still here?โ
Chapter 104
โDr. William.โ
โPlease, just call me William.โ
โAlright. Whatโs wrong with Andrew?โ
โUh, thatโs a top secret I canโt tell.โ
William tried to sidestep her, but Debra blocked his path and held up a finger.
โTen million dollars for the info. Why wouldnโt he take that pill?โ
William blinked, tempted. Neither Marion nor Andrew had ever been so generous with him.
โAlright, Iโll tell you. Itโs because the pill came from Theda.โ
โMs. Buchan?โ Debra frowned. โWhy would that stop him from taking it?โ
โNo idea. Maybe heโs saving it for something. Rumor has it that he used to love her very much.โ
Debra was surprised and skeptical. This rumor was far-fetched.
โDonโt spread nonsense,โ Bartonโs voice cut in from behind. โItโs not because of her.โ
William scoffed, unconvinced. โThen what is the reason?โ
